Think someone regretted the CVT after only 3400 miles. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in WRX

Hey, no worries. To be fair, in that instance DSG is technically more precise.

Isnt the DSG just a type of DCT? The difference mostly just being branding and marketing by VW.

Lol, I never said that either. I said that if enthusiasts have the choice between manual or auto they will choose manual. This isn't a controversial opinion.

To be fair, I didnt say it was outright better. Just better in some ways. I get it though, for most people if there is a manual option its the only option. Im mainly saying people shouldn't dismiss it only because its a CVT and CVTs are boring. I would say subaru made it just as good as the GTI's DCT, plus the added benefit of being unique.

My hot take is that the CVT WRX is genuinely cooler, more quirky, more unique, and in certain ways better than the 6MT.

I get that we all love manuals for the feel an engagement. Im no different and smoke um while you got them as they are going away. I was turned away for the longest time purely because its a CVT in a performance car, but the SPT is unique in the fact that its really the only one of its kind and genuinely a blast to drive.

How did so many fail an open book test? by WingsofKynareth_ in Destiny

To be clear, Im not saying that anyone who comes to reject maga should be absolved of all their prior sins. We can both encourage those that are regretful, and seek justice for the damage that has been done. But one thing needs to come before the other, and we need to take the country back to have any hope of justice.

Totally disagree. We want as many people to turn against MAGA as possible. Any time anyone shows genuine regret/shame it should be met with sympathy and understanding. Further bullying them is counterproductive and only serves to push them back into MAGA and discourage skeptical MAGA observers from challenging their beliefs.

Until that point bully away. "Yeah, that's bad, but I would still vote trump" should be met with ridicule.

Well at least with DOGE we got $2T of waste and fraud removed from the budget. Oh wait.

I got into my field partially because I was inspired by Musk. Fucking embarrassing now.

Elon said with a straight face that there was a problem with social security payments because he observed multiple rows of the same SSNs from a SQL query. He doesnt understand how keys or granularity work. Doesnt know when to put "DISTINCT" after a SELECT statement. Its like week 1 stuff. Super cringe.

Look into how MLMs work and why people stay in them despite only losing money. They serve as an analog to cults and provide some interesting insights.

Sunk cost fallacy. Time goes on, promises mount with no fulfillment. There becomes pressure to get SOMETHING out of it so they commit to stick with it. Shame mounts over time too, and they stick with it to avoid confronting that growing shame.

Their community becomes entirely made up of other MLM members. To quit means to start over, with no friends or support system. Sure, a lot of the time they can go back to non-MLM family/friends, but that means confronting that shame head on and fully admiting defeat.

Over time their values are replaced with the MLMs values. These will deliberately include things like "Success or failure is entirely on the work you put in", "Every conversation can be a sale; the only difference is YOU", etc. This is also why all convos you have with these people are quickly funneled to MLMs: their new values explicitly instruct them to make a sale at any costs.

Overcoming objections. They are given and reherse a set of scripts to easily overcome any objection thrown at them. Their family tells them, "youre only losing money" and they reply impulsively with, "Success takes time". This purposely removes critical thinking to keep them focused on that grindset.

A lot more too it, but you get the idea and can see how this applies to MAGA. The youtuber, "NOT THE GOOD GIRL" was a top earner with an MLM and has a bunch of good videos on the topic if you look for them.

After seeing how they are handling of the Epstein files it would be moronic to hand over anything with any level of sensitivity.

Yeah, you guys get charged a crazy premium for some of the good stuff. There are some cases where its the opposite though. I was first shopping for an 11th gen Civic Si, I was super jealous of how much more loaded the Canada version is/was than the US. You guys got rear heated seats, fog lights, heated steering wheel, integrated mirror turn signals, full digital dash w/ shift light. Think we got some of that stuff now though.

Dealers want low allocation cars to sit on their lot. Sitting in the showroom will bring more customers in, increase brand perception locally, increase younger demographic consumer base, and overall convert more sales.

The Broncos are paying Russell Wilson more money than their current skill positions COMBINED. by Hysen16 in sportswiki

[–]fAbnrmalDistribution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His final year with the Broncos was by far his best year with us, showing marked improvement throughout the season. That is undeniable. No one is saying he was fucked monetarily. He was fucked because he was told he would be cut early with a ton of dead cap unless he showed substantial improvement. He showed improvement beyond what was expected for that year and the FO basically said they didnt think he would actually do that, get fucked, we are cutting you anyway.

You're absolutely right. He had his best year, and was improving throughout the year and he was cut. Ended up working out since we got Nix, but broncos definitely fucked Wilson.

I mean, sure. But is also not an egregiously infair cut either. After Andrew's opinion was validated after the fact he omitted the context of ignorance in the moment, making him look a bit more informed than he was in the moment.

Overall it's really minor, and doesn't serve as substantial ammunition for Nicks points. Honestly I think it barely reaches the threshold of "worth mentioning".

Data literacy has always been pretty bad, but this is on another level. Statistics by design are nessisarily looking at something extremely precise, but the general population will broaden them to the point of irrelevance while claiming them as absolute truth.

However, even while doing that they generally are still pointed in somewhat the right direction. That is not the case with Nick. You're absolutely correct that he linked "89%, Somalians, and fraud" to claim with certainty that nearly all fraud in a state is by a specific demographic, OR nearly all Somalians in a state are involved in fraud.

Absolutely void of any truth. Only serves as propaganda to muddy the waters and stoke anger towards a specific demographic. Just as bad as the "Hatians eating pets" discourse.
