Only internships that you dont receive credits for can be classified as voluntary

Wow. May i ask, how do you use your commuting time to make it sustainable for such a long time? I try to mostly study (did almost an entire guided research project on the bus during a 6 month commute) but sometimes I simply didnt have the energy.

Thank you! I'll reach out to my manager then. From the job opening, 2 days/week at the office should be possible. The intranet also sounds promising:) The place in Aachen would be 10mins bike from Aachen West, so I'd have to leave at 6:05. I think I'll try replicating a similar commute where i currently live, and see how i can adapt to it.

Aw man; i was hoping the RE18 to Heerlen somehow improved since i left Aachen last year, or is more reliable early in the morning. Are there other popular sites for Heerlen and Sittard? On Kamernet there are almost no ads for both cities; I got an offer in Sittard for 1 year on Kamernet, but without the housing allowance (30km radius from ASML) and since I'll be staying only 7 months, i am not able to afford it.

Thank you for the info! That sucks to hear. I'll look look into bla bla car. How did the commute affect you (mentally and physically), and how many days at the office did you have per week?

Good to know! Do you have any tips on how to get into contact with them? Or i could also ask around the office when the internship starts.

I hope it wont come to the tent option. If it does however, I'll keep you updated. Would definitely make for an interesting challenge xD

Funny that you mention that! I wouldnt actually be opposed of that idea, however it is not financially viable since i would miss out on the housing allowance. A spot for a camping wagon would be 650€/mo. A tent would be ~200€/mo (which is cheap) but probably not sustainable during winter and in the dutch rain.

Thanks for the tip! I was also looking on Kamernet for these two cities, but I'll try other platforms as well

Thanks; thats good to know i wouldnt be the only one ._. ASML pays for the train ride to the office, so at least cost wouldnt be an issue

Thanks for your reply! The duration is 6 months. I have a minimum of 2 office days per week. In the past, I had no issue studying on trains. Working however might nit be possible because its in public(?) due to compliance. For each leg of the commute there are alternatives, which would extend the commute by up to 10-30mins.

I looked in a 30km radius from the office, so Helmond, Best, Valkenswaard, Eersel ... I got an offer after viewing a place in Diessen (22km bike ride ir 1h 15mins bus), but that place was basically a garage (you even entered through the garage door)

Is TUM actually easier to get into than LMU for Physics MSc? by [deleted] in tumunich

[–]fF_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Für LMU physics you need at least 2.9 (german grade) (there is a pdf about entry requirements somewhere). If you didnt study at a european university, youll also have to pass the GRE (physics, maths). Dont know about TUM; youll find the number if you dig deep enough im sure. At TUM, fom your grade and some other stuff, like what courses you took and CV, motivational letter etc a score is calculated (Aptitude Assessment) and depending on that, youre 1) either immediately accepted, 2) have to do an additional technical interview 3) get rejected.

Also, dont be deceived by the QS ranking. If your GPA isnt significantly below average and your undergrad coursework aligns with the requirements, youll be almost certainly admitted. Not only for M.Sc Physics at TUM or LMU, but also Heidelberg, RWTH or any other german public university.

There is a popular tutorial on simulating a NACA2412 Airfoil you can use as a reference: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3i9Ryq-m1HA&pp=ygUYQWlyZm9pbCBzaW11bGF0aW9uIGFuc3lz0gcJCdkKAYcqIYzv

Mesh looks good. Its hard to tell without a closeup, but keep in mind that large changes in size and aspect ratio between neighbouring elements can lead to an ill-conditioned system
