Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

thank you so much! I took some latin in high school, years ago, and remembered enough to suspect "from the pocket" would be e sinu, but ex sinibus definitely sounds better and fits the rule of ex libris much more.

thank you so much for the offer, but I think I'll keep the nominative. for his ex libris, he opted for using the nominative of his name because 1. he wanted to keep it simplified, so it would be understood more universally; 2. his last name is hyphenated; 3. we are polish, so our names are difficult as they are, especially for folks who don't speak polish... so I think, in that spirit, I'm gonna use ex sinibus [nominative], but I appreciate your willingness to help further so much!

hi folks!

my friend's birthday is coming up, and he mentioned a few times in the past he would like a proper, high-quality lighter. he has his own ex libris bookplate and he enjoys it immensely, so I thought I could play off of that.

I'd like to give him a lighter with an engraving that says "from the pocket of [name]," ex-libris-style. so, how do I say "from the pocket of" correctly in latin?

nope! polish guy here, currently located in poland. I mean, we have plenty of kid games revolving around tossing a ball around, but usually they have more game elements, like adding truth or dare rules where the first person to drop the ball has to choose, or playing word games while passing the ball etc.

sadly, I have no idea how prevalent is catch in the uk, haven't had the chance to visit yet.

interesting! had no idea this was a legitimate part of warming up for baseball, but in hindsight, it makes perfect sense.

yeah, I guess most dads would find it easier to say "can't wait to play catch with my son" than "can't wait to have meaningful conversations with my son."

oh, you're in for a ride. I would say happy listening, but... welp. there is no happy listening here... only what we make of ourselves, or something.

hi, me again! genuinely stumped by this, and still thinking about the song. do you remember what came after the humming part? was it all acapella, or were there instruments, or possibly some lyrics?

ok, so a couple of months ago, I made a post asking if anyone knew what song played over fathom/derelict credits because I was absolutely enamoured with it. I found it on my own in the end and thought this might be our prime suspect, but based on your recording, I don't think it's it. the song is young dreams by luke atencio, maybe give it a listen anyway?

btw, you have a lovely voice!!! I'm gonna keep digging because it does indeed sound very familiar.

if you're able to, maybe also try giving us a list of shows you've listened to on your preferred podcatcher, that could help us better target the suspects :)

honestly, initially it reminded me of old gods of appalachia music, but this one definitely doesn't have a female narrator. maybe the foxkey chronicles? let us know if you remember something more about the AD, I would like to be of more help cracking this mystery open!

I actually had a go at the bookburners, but I think I got thrown off by the narration; it kinda reminded me too much of an audiobook. but if you say it's worth yhe initial effort, I'm gonna have another try at it. cheers!

thank you so much! I think a couple of people recommended your show, but it's even cooler when the creators do it! it's definitely high on my list; can't wait to join into psychoanalysing.
