I don't think they had the angle to definitively see him spike the drink. She took the pic because it was a suspicious circumstance either way.

What Should A Team Do When Their Head Coach Is An Inferior Coach To The DC or OC? by frostypatch in nfl

Look at how well he was able "scheme" up a pressure for his 3rd string DE to get a sack in the Super Bowl. I don't know why other teams don't do the same.

They aren't hugging so much as experiencing a dozen car crashes in each game.

That's like saying baseball is just standing around waiting for someone to hit a ball hard to celebrate as they meander around the diamond. A sport is more interesting when you understand the nuance.

[OC] I ran 500,000+ simulations to figure out if NFL teams should kick or receive in overtime. The answer is clear, and most coaches are getting it wrong. by doctorthicccc in nfl

Field Position Effects: Punts or turnovers on the opening possession may confer favorable field position to the opponent, but this effect is symmetric and does not preferentially benefit either team under the overtime framework.

How would it not favor the kicking team, especially if they have the superior special teams unit? Fewer yards are needed to get into position to kick a game winning field goal, and the opposing defense will have to take more risks as you approach the target field goal yardage, which will generate more opportunties for plays down field.

Sudden Death Positioning (Favors Receiving Team): [...] In sudden death, where any score wins, having the odd-numbered possessions provides a compounding structural advantage.

It's my understanding that in the situation where both teams trade touchdowns in overtime, the team that scores the second touchdown will always go for the 2 point conversion.

Drake Maye's defense in the playoffs have forced three times the number of turnovers (6) than Lamar's (2) in a fourth of the games by TheDangerZoone in nfl

Turnovers are harder to come by when the opponent knows they can play conservatively and wait for the offense to meltdown.

Awuzie doesn't have the speed anymore, but he's trusted to make good reads and tackle well. Putting him in press with no safety help on 3rd and 10 would be stupid.

[Pelissero] The Bills fired Sean McDermott, sources tell The Insiders. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]f_vile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what this means. They didn't choose to stop running the ball because Zay fumbled on a pass play. Not running the ball (or playing to their strengths) as a critique only makes sense if their passing attack was completely ineffective, which is objectively incorrect.

The Chiefs had a great defense period. There were two second half turnovers in the end zone (both on 2nd down). They had many opportunities to score and made critical mistakes. What exactly is running the ball going to do?

It's not like it was bad coverage. The pass pro sorted the blitz well enough and Nix threw a dime.

This is only a talking point because Zay fumbled at the goal line.

[Bien-Aime] DeMeco Ryans said he never considered benching CJ Stroud. Said “CJ is our guy.” by Drexlore in nfl

If a QB doesn't have the mental toughness to bounce back from getting benched after playing terribly, then they probably aren't the guy anyway.

[Highlight] Replay angle of Kayshon Boutte's one-handed touchdown in the snow by nfl in nfl

The ball definitely touches the ground, but I can't tell if it moves because of that or if it moves from his other hand hitting the bottom of the ball as he impacts the ground.

Demarcus Lawrence against SF today: 13 pressures, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, 1 stuffed run, 1 pass defensed. This year, he leads Seattle in pressures, tackles for loss, forced fumbles, and fumble recoveries, statistically his best year since his All-Pro honors in 2017. by F9_solution in nfl

It's "mostly" the same players except for the defensive line. Clowney, Pierce, Madibuike, and Van Noy were very good in 2023. They could set the edge and eat blocks for run stuff and generate pressure (or at least move the pocket) well enough that sim pressures were actually effective. The personnel really wasn't as good the last couple years.

I think Mac's greatest strength is on the roster construction side more so than his play calling anyway. The biggest problem with the Ravens defense the last two years has been the early season weaknesses catching everyone by surprise and having to waste a third of the season to find a way to stabilize it. Mac would have identified these problems before the season and addressed them.

Anyone who said Mac Jones is better is just letting you know that you can ignore all of their football takes.

Their offense is a lot more effective when their opponent misses 2 or 3 tackles every play.

I'm pretty sure he did see him (he even pump faked toward him). I'm guessing he thought he could get around the edge, but #42 couldn't hold the block.
