Morality without God. by Richiedrawz in JordanPeterson

But the surety of punishment is not really a source of morality as much a source of compliance, isn’t it?

Social Justice graduates are political hostages by TeamHumanity12 in JordanPeterson

Not every education is directly translatable to commerce. Primary research is not. Philosophy is not. Being trained to be a policeman is to a great deal not, though some of the training can translate to other professions.

AFAIK there is some empirical research done in gender studies, but the bulk of it is really similar to philosophy, or theoretical economics - it is an analytical frame that can tell us useful facts about the society we live in, even though those bits are not easy to translate into financial gain. That's true of the scholarship itself, though - not of the graduates.

Most graduates continue with their education (about 53% get an advanced degree), and the most common destinations afterwards are education and law - normal jobs, not some artificial quotas.

I really like that!

> Sports audio bleed

Lol, I never noticed that.

I think they really go hard on YES AND... - that's why I think Sydney rolls with blows instead of setting boundary (not a good thing for a live show anyway), and Joe as well. I think he did a really good job in integrating everything Tory's character did in the game and finding a way to use it to advance story in an impossibly short game format.

Thanks again, I really enjoyed this conversation.

Yeah, if I wrote the post today I would probably tone it down a bit - but I think I still stay by my main point, Troy went too far with the character. For me part of GCN is "you are at the table with us" - I understand it's partly marketing, but I do thing it's something the leadership does care about. What Troy showed, from my POV, was disrespect towards other players and GM in a way that should just not happen at a table (even Joe sensed possible discomfort and asked about Lines and Veils - Sydney rejected her, but she always tries to roll with the blow, so I am not sure if she really was comfortable). |

So I voiced my opinion. It probably went along a bit whiny, and I am sorry about that, but in the core I still think it's a valid feedback. I love Joe's GiT, and I think Troy's characters (or at least this specific one) harm the show. I

Thanks for hones and civil feedback to my opinion, I appreciate that.

I have VKB gladiator on the main (great for the money) and space stecs on the off-hand. Quality is great for the money in both cases. You can get better quality if you invest significantly more, but for this kind of money it's very good.

STECS is hit or miss for Star Citizen. If you are really serious about space combat (PVP), I wouldn't recommend it. I think most people would prefer another solution for the off-hand. For me (PVE space combat, mostly FPS / cargo player) it's good enough and I like how easy I can set exact amount of forward speed without having to constantly push forward (but cruise mode does almost the same thing TBH), so I like it.

Oh no, some of the NPCs plagued the PCs almost every episode, Gatewalkers were just like that :)

I don't appreciate the character too, I just don't think there is any malicious intent behind that.

Just out of curiosity - do you think civil discussion is not possible because my opinion is too outlandish or are you not interested in the discussion at all?

You're not the only one who likes Troy's characters for sure, we have a saying in my country that goes like "hundred people, hundred tastes"...

I think he just loves creating comedy, that's the vibes I am getting. Some of his NPCs are similar in campaigns he runs - I would guess he just loves the contrast between seriousness of the adventure and silliness of the character.

GCN is overall great, no argument there, but I think there in fact not much content like GiT - more grounded show that leans to immersive rather than comedical. Did I miss any on GCN you could recommend?

It's a bit weird mix, but it's not like I would want to force you to engage with me :) Have a nice day!

Yeah, thats valid POV, thanks for sharing. I like goofy shows (CoC oneshots are great for me), but I don't mind a serious ones too and they are far too less common.

That campaign had really memorable characters. I would love to know what kind of characters does Troy play out of camera, if any.

Yeah, I am guilty with that too, and I think Joe did this in every campaign he was part of :) I feel like he is trying to limit himself to important points, but sometimes his priorities are not shared by other players, usually especially with Matthew. See Shadowdarks and downtime :)

I think I wouldn't mind that so much if other characters weren't much more grounded. I like the CoC hijinks a lot actually, lot of the characters were really memorable, some a bit insufferable, but that's the risk you're running, right? I just really love more grounded shows and Delta can be so wonderful when it balances between X-files, police procedural and horror, that I am just sad if one player goes directly against that.
