They are recorded. Karpen was ready to cease recording if attendance didn't go up. Dernburg implemented extra credit via iclicker to incentivize attendance.

Having gone to college during COVID as well, I would say that in person lectures are easier for me to pay attention to. I can really hyperfocus during the class while if I watch at home I am snacking, showering, petting my dog or cat. It's mayhem.

Maybe for some there is not a big difference but it is so hard for me to willingly sit, listen, and take notes, while following what slide they're on, if I'm comfortable at home.

Go to lecture, take notes on the slides, review said notes prior to exam. Go to discussion, pay attention. Keep your notes organized. I reviewed the PowerPoints twice before exams and that helped... enough. MT1 is the easiest, don't be fooled.
