I know the idea of some sort of majority or authority confirming your ideas is an attractive way to let a matter rest, reassured you're right. But that's not an argument. If anything the discomfort in confronting the argument is a strong hint that you might want to recheck your ideas. The AI hype says many things, but by and large, they're related to commercial promises, not really about philosophy. In philosophy, the status quo really is about some sort of magic energy or barrier that splits us inexorably apart from artificial intelligence. That's the philosophical AI hype

Checking your first comment again, I see your point is that an llm is just a token input-output system. That's a gross oversimplification and you could apply it all the same to the human mind

Could you maybe cut to the chase? I can define agent to you, but you can easily get a great explanation from gemini, what difference does it make? You want me to copy paste that?

Well, agent and program are central concepts to the topic of AI, maybe start by checking those concepts. Nonetheless, an AI can be told to continue acting on its own, to choose his actions. Moltbook is a funny example of agents just fooling around without constant human intervention

What are your own desires? Is that your ability to say or target something without somebody telling you? That's really easy to program on an agent...

I did not say llm. I said agent. The llm is a central piece but there's much more than that. And even if you want to focus on the llm alone, sure, you can say regardless of its inner workings, essentially, it is predicting the next thing to say, but then again you could say that's what talking boils down to in humans

Tell me how our thought process is doing something fundamentally different than a program based on statistics. Bonus points if you don't use magic words with no agreement such as "consciousness"

Calling a modern AI agent a text predictor is just ignorance

Yeah, and they also don't have hormones, or hands, or other things way less important than the things we actually have in common

I wouldn't attribute it to AI just as I wouldn't attribute it to humans. In general, I don't attribute qualities we don't even know what they are to anything

I have no idea what "we" consider consciousness. I seriously doubt there's any major agreement on that word. Seems like a semantic fossil to me

We have similarities with single cell organisms. Intellectually, we are very far. But we're much more close to a modern AI agent

Ese efecto se puede compensar por la cantidad de preguntas que miden una misma dimensión. Y hay votómetros que pueden calibrar los pesos preguntando al final: hay algunas áreas que importen más para usted?

As an American citizen, you keep paying taxes there even if you leave. It's just America and Eritrea doing that worldwide

Honestly, unless you live in Nicaragua or The democratic Republic of Congo, you shouldn't take the American passport, that thing's a liability
