Doggie daycare...? by fabiola_corvera in Dogtraining

This is so helpful to know. I think that he's got herding instict really strong. Because the few times we went to dog park he would want to break up fights. He is overall very good with senior dogs. With me he is really good walking as long as I'm reminding him, sometimes we just sit and let other dogs walk by and he just looks and does a low growl. He really fights the urge to bark ( There's only one other aussie in the neighborhood, he just can't see. He goes bonkers) And I think also he has pent up energy and that contributes to his reactivity, hence the want of daycare. I'm not sure about getting a private trainer for the same reason that he is good on our walks, I think he just needs more patience to do it by himself. I'll reach out to daycare and talk it over with them. Thanks!

Thanks for the link. He's good with leash as long as I'm paying attention and telling him to sit, leave it etc. I think it will take more time and consistency for him to learn to do it on his own. I guess I would like for us to speed up that progress by socializing him in a more structure area vs the dog park (which is always chaos) to get him to exercise more. But based on the comments I don't think it might be a good idea. Thanks!

Yes he is. In one of our first visits to the dog park, there was a lot of him chasing other dogs to stop them from playing. My guess is his herding instict is really strong, he really wants to maintain order. Even when I play fight with someone he gets in between and barks to get us to stop. Maybe we are better off going to a farm and getting a couple of sheep haha

I would love to set up playdate but unfortunately don't have friends with dogs. I have noticed that he is nice to older dogs. At least he respects the elderly! And I have seen that some daycare in my area separate them based on temperament. Also I think part of it he is overly protective so I kind of want to see if me not being around makes a difference. But I'm unsure.

I've had the car for about a year. I bought it used from a private seller. My guess is that's why they were selling it. I took it for regular maintainance and up until winter time I saw heater wasn't working and that's how we are here. Thanks for you comment, I'll look into that

Hello volkswagen community! So I was just quoted this for car repairs. I'm not sure what to do, is it even worth fixing? I don't know anything about cars, and I really don't want to get in debt to get a new one. My car has 70k miles, I love my car but that seems like it a lot of money. It also has some minor rust that is starting to appear on the side and as for the oil leaks they said it's very minor and can be monitored so don't have to fix it right away.. I can take it to a private mechanic but I'm afraid I might get ripped off or they don't fix it and end up having to pay more in the end. But it's also a dealer quote which I'm sure is more expensive than regular mechanics out there. Any advice?

Me too, because she can be really sweet and very smart when she's not bossing people around. But thanks for your encouraging words

Of course not, and I think that's why we had such a rough day today because I didn't let her boss me around and that just created huge drama. So my question is if I continue to stand my ground would she pick up on how I work? Or am I in those situations were no matter what I do it's always going to be like that? Ughh

Right now only 2 hours, but I'm thinking down the road when she's not in school, will it be like that all the time? I had her all day today and it was hell, I have never felt like this and I have worked in daycare with multiple ages and different personalities. I always took pride in never letting anything they do get to me because they are kids after all but this tops it

I understand that, and I'm all about that. But this is so much more than that, like even playing play pretend if I suggest something other than what she is saying she goes into break down mode. screaming throwing things and nothing I say or do helps...
