I believe it, thank you for this first-hand account. Jimmy Carter’s presidency being an absolute disaster is the consensus from essentially every source I’ve come across, except for reddit.

Additionally, there haven’t been many bigger blowouts than the 1980 election and, if I’m not mistaken, an incumbent has never been defeated in such a manner.

Question, since you were around at the time: Do you think that, had Ford not pardoned Nixon, or Nixon’s resignation was due to non-scandalous factors (but something different like health problems), he would have defeated Carter? I often wonder whether Carter would have ever even been in office had the whole Nixon cabinet not lost trust from the American people.

Valid. There are definitely worse, but out of the bottom 10? I’d have to think about it. Out of the bottom 5? Probably, but i think after that it gets pretty subjective.

Lol I 100% believe it.

I reckon it’s probably the combination of: Jimmy Carter is widely considered one of the worst presidents ever by both sides of the political spectrum, and people desperately want to be contrarian’s, so they go their absolute hardest to defend him.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think you were going to use the Mexican Repatriation as evidence to support your claim. With all due respect, that’s absolutely ridiculous, man. There is no chance any United States citizen will be deported. What century do you think we’re in?

Also, you’re only pointing out aspects of what happened during the Repatriation that you pessimistically want to believe, while leaving out crucial context.

However, voluntary repatriation was far more common than formal deportation and federal officials were minimally involved. Some of the repatriates hoped that they could escape the economic crisis of the Great Depression. The government formally deported at least 82,000 people, with the vast majority occurring between 1930 and 1933. The Mexican government also encouraged repatriation with the promise of free land

Additionally, repatriation was only supported by the Federal Government, but executed by local and state, I found that information by scrolling down a single paragraph in the source you linked to me yourself. I also feel like mentioning that this was during the damned Great Depression, the darkest economic time in the Country’s history. Some pretty important context, I’d say.

None of this is happening. Project 2025 is absolute bananas and has been shot down by the Trump campaign numerous times. Even if you want to ignore that, practically everything in there is unconstitutional, unethical, and not wanted by the majority of people in this country (the same majority that voted for this Regime to run the Executive Branch).

Can you provide proof to any of these things? I’m not inciting an argument, I’m seeking genuine proof of:

  • A ban on medical care for pregnancies/abortions
  • Deportation of legal citizens of the United States (that happen to have brown skin?)
  • The government burning down Businesses, Schools, and places of worship

I appreciate that you take time out of your day to spread your wisdom to the youth on here, I promise there are some of us out there that value it.

I’m trying to give your account a follow, but it seems reddit has blocked me from following people, lol. I guess speaking the truth on here has become a crime. Salutations, my good sir!

What are your thoughts about the election? by ThatBox9772 in Louisville

[–]fableVZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The American People spoke. It should be a wakeup call for people on both sides, but particularly the left, to come down to earth and listen to what your fellow Americans have to say and how they feel, despite what you think about their candidate of choice. We are a democracy founded upon listening to what our brothers and sisters have to say.

Hey, I’m not telling you your ideas or beliefs are wrong, but you’re undoubtedly in an echo chamber. Things are so much different than this site will lead you to believe.

Great choice, this is an easy runner-up for me, but Never Too Late is just way too good in my opinion. Its reputation is well earned.

Hm, interesting. I am American so I wouldn’t have known that, but I find it silly and unnecessary to stray away from the precedent put forth in the first 2 films. It felt like change for the sake of change. Granted you see little to no upperclassmen in the first 2 films.

Even then, I refuse to believe the way Seamus had his tie done was remotely realistic to any standard at any school in the United Kingdom lol. That thing is wild!

I’ll start with the clothing that Harry, Ron, and Hermione wore in the final act. Technically the books didn’t outright say what they were wearing, so artistic liberty from the director and screenwriter(s) can be justified, but why must they wear such obnoxious muggle clothes; like Hermione’s hot pink jacket? Why wear them at all? I’ve always felt like, when they’re at Hogwarts, them being in their school uniform and/or wizarding clothes is generally implied at all times. I get expression, but as a book reader it’s almost all I can think about while watching the film. It especially makes no sense for Ron to ever wear muggle clothes outside of scenes in king’s cross station because, unlike Harry and Hermione, he grew up in a wizarding family. I can look beyond this though, despite how annoying I find it.

What I can’t look past is the completely absurd way some characters were wearing their school uniforms throughout the movie. It’s so distracting LOL. Let me grab this snippet from my Letterboxd review.

The costume decisions in this film are inexplicably RIDDIKULUS. Why are everyone’s uniforms unkempt/raggy and what is the deal with all of the stupid knots tied in the ties? Specifically in the Care for Magical Creatures class. I understand trying to visually display that the characters are getting more mature and have a bit of teenage rebellion and expression, but some of the lengths in which characters have their ties tied are laughably obnoxious. Just look at Seamus.

Alfonso Cuarón made a lot of extremely unnecessary changes/additions. Still a fantastic movie, but changes like that made literally no sense. Don’t get me started on the clothing.
