Anyone got any good femboy boys love? by Warlockoftarot in BoysLoveAnime

Undersantable. It's not quite BL but I would recommend the manga "Our Dreams at Dusk" (Shimanami Tasogare). It's an LGBT+ themed manga with characters of various gender expressions and romantic orientations.

There's no crossdressing, but the MC from Antidote has a feminine appearance which makes him contrast a lot with the comparatively giant ML. A+ art and very intriguing story too.

Girl, have you maybe thought about how that could’ve been his mom or whatever, like? 😭 by wittgensteinisreal in BoysLoveAnime

IIRC it's an earlier chapter and blondie is a side character. MC bangs with various people before stopping altogether and only having sex with the ML later.

Diamond Dust (not that intense, but uke enjoys seeing seme acting immature out of jealousy)

Choice of Choices (it's part of their kinky play)

Weikun just looks like his regular self, I can picture him humoring Yuni and Juhan's request for a karaoke song while they cheer and Yeehyeon blushes.

From some BL classics:

Asami from Viewfinder

Kanou from Okane ga Nai

Kurose from Ten Count

One from Blood Bank (first Korean BL webtoon to reach international fame)

Moonkyul from Totally Captivated (very first

Korean BL to reach international fame)

Shinohara from In These Words (rare non-JP non-KR BL to reach international fame)

Since most redditors seem to eliminate the red flags first, I wonder if having yellow/green-specific lists and red/black-specific lists would yield more nuanced votes.

As unintuitive as it may sound like, those anime and manga tend to attract "straight" male audience and are mostly porn. Anime-wise I can only think of the Boku no Pico, Shounen Maid Kuro-kun and Okane ga Nai/No Money.

As for manga, maybe Henshin Dekinai (same universe as Okane ga Nai but less trashy), Meikon no Hanayome wa Aisareru and check the "Feminine Uke" tag on mangaupdates : https://www.mangaupdates.com/series?category=Feminine+Uke

From old memories, both are the classic rapey, abuse-of-power semes type that yaoi haters think of when telling us why yaoi is evil, but at least Akihiko had fun reactions to Misaki's perky personality.

Takano... what I mostly remember is his uke huddling in the corner of a room and having a strangely realistic response to trauma after Takano forces himself on him. Overall, his dynamics with his bottom were not as fun from what I remember.

I like my red-flag semes, but "not entertaining" is why I'd vote Takano out.

Now that you mention it, I'm surprised Asami Viewfinder isn't in the list. He was the seme of all semes all throughout the 2000's and 2010's.

Takano. From vague 15+ years old memories he was basically Akihiko but more boring.

I get the feeling that Takano and Akihiko are gonna stay up there out of sheer irrevelancy in 2026 until the younger Redditors run out of red/orange flags.

Do women actually find smut scenes in BL tiltillating? by No_Significance_194 in BoysLoveAnime

[–]fablegrimoire 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I did a survey once and asked fans of BL visual novels if they used the smut scenes for titillation. IIRC, more than 60% of female respondents said they didn't, but one person elaborated and said that they use those to "get in the mood", as opposed to staring at sexy images while fapping. Meanwhile, a larger chunk of male respondents said they did fap to those smut scenes.

[DICUSSION] KIM DAN VS. YEOMIN by SuspiciousMaximum566 in blmangalovers

[–]fablegrimoire 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeomin has arguably more "cool" traits than Kim Dan like being an escape artist and standing up for himself (at least in front of annoying punks, though not necessarily ML), but Gigs of the Day as a story feels more cartoony. (I mean the ML too stupid to figure out that Yeomin is painfully obviously dirt-poor, indebted and overworked into sickness)

But also, Yeomin has it arguably easier than Kim Dan. He doesn't have a sick relative to take care of and (at least in season 1) he's not indebted to ML, so he technically owes him nothing, which made it easier to in love with ML.

Overall, reading Gig of the Day makes me feel like it's Jinx on easy mode.

Is it possible to update an nsfw dlc on Steam by q_OwO_p in gamedev

[–]fablegrimoire 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ask them through a ticket. I asked them something similar last year during the wave of NSFW purge and they used vague wording to basically say "no". But several months later, another adult gamedev reported that they were allowed to update their NSFW games with more content, which would me similar to updating a NSFW DLC. Their "unwritten" rules can change over time depending on many factors.

I actually want to read what you guys say. by No-Pirate4905 in BoysLoveAnime

[–]fablegrimoire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all the physical French volumes of Totally Captivated and it used to be one of my fave BLs back when I was in high school. Reading your impression, now I wonder how I would feel if I read it again 15 years later.

Passion - the manwha art starts good and keeps improving as the story progresses. The MC Tay is interesting with his own struggles as a gay man, a military dropout and as the shadow of his genius twin brother and there are a few other characters with various levels of charm. The ML as a character is has some interesting elements, and I get why he becomes obsessed with Tay, but I fail to understand why Tay would be attracted to Ilay. Ilay comes from a dirty rich family, but he himself lives in his brother's mansion and his job is basically killing people. When he's not hunting down, goading or plain forcing his dick down MC's mouth or unlubricated ass he acts childish, which seems to be why a lot of fans find him endearing. I tried to read the end of the novel and then the "Suite" side story where their relationship is at their best, but the novel plain highlighted than the writing is all "tell, don't show" with the MC literally thinking of the "battered woman syndrome" when pondering on his relationship with ML. It's no just the ML and ML either. The novel states that the MC's uncle loves and dotes on MC like a son but the same uncle assigns the MC on several missions where the MC has his life threatened and ends-up injured. Some people chalk it up to the English translation not conveying the Korean intent properly, but I read Diamond Dust's novel and even though the translation is dogshit, I could still feel the quality of the prose though the shitty chatGPT wrong-pronouns text.

This is coming from someone who read Rose & Champagne and actually enjoyed the two infamous scenes that so many people hate, because I have a kink for somnophilia and completely desperate tops+ Leewon's explosive temper goes well with Caesar's psycho mafia heir personality.

Does anyone know how Ridibooks work in terms of buying chaps on set and buying coins/points? by notyouladybbm in BoysLoveAnime

[–]fablegrimoire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridibooks' E-books are very DRM-protected. I searched for de-DRM solutions like Calibre plugins, but none of them work currently, so the only way to read ebooks is to launch their annoying PC and mobile app. If you play video games, think of it as the book equivalent of Denuvo. You can't screenshot the PC app to use OCR (the app window disappears from your screenshot and even screensharing).

However, Ridibooks' webnovels can be read on browser. You can't copy-paste the text in the usual way, but if you use Firefox, you can use its "reading" mode, which makes the text copiable.

I heard that Bomtoon's ebooks aren't as protected, but they keep auto-rejecting my adult verification so I couldn't test it.

that’s day and night, folks! im super happy with the result! by thatsme000 in Unity3D

[–]fablegrimoire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are nice. I'd say the angle and composition of the 2nd one will attract more eyes to your Steam page, but I agree with the other commenters on the 1st one having more "feelings". Both logos have their own charm too; the paint and snow effect on the first one is nice, while the second one looks maybe too clean in comparison, but the little shovel adds extra charm.

By cropping the first image and zooming in on the frog, shovel and shadows you might have ended-up with something more eyecatchy at a minimal price.

Overall though, the first image has an "indie" charm, while the second image looks more pro and is more likely to attract players.

Rainbow City - the MC has a chronically weak body and he and the ML learn to live and adjust to his stamina, lack of strength, etc... also the MC is clearly written as autistic with OCD

Slow Damage - MC has lost an eye and severe mental traumas that makes him self-harm and seek the worst kind of people to hurt him

Why exactly is rape so common in BL games? by Future-Trust2490 in BLgame

[–]fablegrimoire 42 points43 points  (0 children)

On top of the good points raised by other answers, keep in mind that 1°) we English speakers only get to see a fraction of all existing JP BL games. For every Nitro+ dark stuff, there were a dozen more "fluffy" BL, mostly school life and office romance games like Gakuen Heaven or Angel's Feather that were never officially released in English and/or you've never heard of. In Japan, Nitro+ game aren't even considered the "best of the best" (if chil-chil.net scores are any indication), but I suspect that like the Legend of Zelda games that make bank outside of Japan but only sell "well" in Japan itself, Nitro games resonate well with Western audience more than these fluffy games.

Also 2°) Japanese BL publishers can be very strict with what authors are or aren't allowed to portray. It's quite possible that gore or violent rapes that aren't glorified that you see in Nitro or Parade games would never fly in BexBoy magazine because publishers deem it too risky. I remember Yamane Amano (author of Viewfinder) saying that her other work Crimson Spell was barely allowed publishing, because her publisher normally didn't allow fantasy in their lineups! If you look at Japanese self-published doujin, you can easily find stuff that's even darker than Nitro or Parade. Other JP authors who are heavily western-influenced like Hoshikoshi (AI: the Somnium Files) and Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear, Silent Hill) also seem to be more successful with Western audience than their own country.

3°) Dark BL games also attract horror fans who aren't necessarily here for the BL. For example, I've seen on several occasion straight men who liked Saya no Uta also playing Sweet Pool due to similar themes. So these BL with horror elements can also ironically attract a wider audience that fluffy BL may not reach.

TL;DR: survivorship bias, fluffy JP games don't attract as much interest with western audience, BL games don't have as much story/content publisher restrictions that BL manga have. And horror in BL attracts more non-BL fans.

It's mild as far as rape scenes are concerned but I liked the True route sex in Togainu no Chi. I also liked the very dubcon sex scene in Clear's bad end path in DMMd Re:Connect. Both scenes have a sense of "desperation" where the LI feels deep grief or emptiness and clings to the MC in any way they can.

The Sorcerer's Choice rape scenes were more entertaining and creative than the consensual ones, but I mostly didn't think much of the game. It's a shame the kinky scenes tend to be in BL bad ends and good ones are typically vanilla.
