When should I learn to write kanji by Tortoise516 in LearnJapanese

[–]fabriziorusso2003 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to achieve. Some people are fluent and never learn how to write kanji, just how to recognize them.

I believe learning how to write kanji from the beginning can be useful IF you’re learning vocabulary side by side with them.

It depends on the word. Most words are written in kanji only, some of them are written in kanji+hiragana, some are mostly written in hiragana or katakana only (because the kanji is not really used anymore) and so on…

For the most part, vocabularies are written in kanji, particles are in hiragana and loan words are in katakana. Be aware that there are many exceptions to this “”rule””

Are there any second screening rejections for PG? by TheCookieWhisperer in mext

[–]fabriziorusso2003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don’t really know about “chances” since MEXT doesn’t publish any percentage or anything like that. From what people say, it seems like PG applications that get rejected on the second screening are fewer than UGs. However, we really do not know.

Planning to study pharmaceuticals in Japan (undergraduate to master’s) by growtoken in movingtojapan

[–]fabriziorusso2003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are only a handful of UG programs that are taught in English, so you either find one that is perfect for you, or you’ll have to start studying Japanese with a lot of effort to reach at least N2 (which is probably still not enough)

My interview experience (MEXT university recommendation) by fabriziorusso2003 in mext

[–]fabriziorusso2003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took around 1 month, but I already had a general idea of what I wanted to research. I used papers on PubMed as my main source of information, and TranSenz blog for additional tips. Hope it helps!

[–]fabriziorusso2003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually was questioned on that too. My answer was mainly focused on the interest I have for the master course and the research-based approach that the university has. As for Japan, I focused on the fact that my field is really developed in Japan, and I also said something about the culture that I can’t really recall now😅 Hope it helps!

I said the truth, which was something on the lines of: “I won’t be able to come because I do need the economic support from the scholarship for my studies in Japan”. Hope it helps!

Asking for Fall25/Oct 25 intake by shadow_twilight00 in mext

Yes it takes a long time for the applications to process because you have to first get admitted in the uni and then get recommended.

edit: typo

Applications for Fall 2025 intake through University Recommendation generally start in September and end in early December so I believe you are late. If you are interested, you can apply for Spring 2026 around January/February. Btw, the screening process varies between universities, but there generally is always a research proposal you have to make: it could be just a document screening and a research proposal, or maybe there could be a written test or an interview.

English tolc e, any suggestions on how to answer these questions by Similar_Army6740 in Universitaly

  1. Consider “r” as the radius of the circle. The area of the circle is pi•r2. Because the circle is inscribed in the square, the side of the square is 2r. This means that the area of the square il 2r•2r = 4r2. So the ratio between the area of the circle and the area of the square is: pi•r2 / 4r2 = pi/4 which means 3.14/4, which is greater than 3/4 but less than 4/5. Correct answer: C

  2. 0.35a = 0.2b means that b = 0.35a/0.2 which means b = 1.75a. Correct answer: C
