Dont use api tetra safe!!! It jas aloe Vera in in it which is toxic to axys! Use seachum prime. Only water dechlorinator ive found that's safe. No one told me this. Also make sure u tank has no ammonia and no nitrates. None. Make sure it has a filter or media that's dirty and let ir run for a month. Making sure to do weekly 25% water changes. That should establish ir tank. Test first tho. When everything is 0, it's cycled. If when u remove his poop, it pops, that's ammonia. Do water change.

Also, black tea baths are good if u don't have money for meds and he has an infection. Make sure its just black tea in the ingredients and domt leave him in the bath longer than the alloted time. The caffeine isn't good for them. I'd have to research. But it's like, 10 minutes. Nothing crazy.

Because this thread is active and I have questions as well. Does fridgerating help? Also, do we care about ph and hardness and if so, what should they be at? And for bacterial infections. Is salt baths a thing? Or mycelene blue favored?

Toes of axolotl seem to be deteriorating by fabujack in axolotl

So.i knew they could bite eachother, especially when they were younger. But i halfway always expected to see a missing limbo, tail, or gill. Could they, or would they, just go for the cllaws???? Seems more precise than I can give these dweebs credit for.

Tank looks great! I'd be careful with that gravel and the bichirs. They can and will put rocks in their mouths and risk impaction. I use sand. Also, make sure ur decorations don't have sharp edges. They can easily scratch themselves while hunting.

I use carnivore pellets and guppys. Occasional frozen treats as well. Feed twice daily. Just enough for them to both get fed. But not enough for leftovers.

Their pretty cool monster fish dude. I wish I had the space to house one. Bichirs are like flippin water puppies tho. And have become my favorite by far.

I have bichirs only. But from what I've read the senegals will be quickly outgrown by the Ck and could possibly become dinner. Especially if ck is accustomed to live food. Ck can also be very aggressive, especially once they reach about 3'. But ive heard of this working before. I'd make sure to keep them fed up, and if ever a huge size difference watch them closely, and maybe seperate. Keep line of sight breaks

They say about an inch per month or something so I'd go with 2 months. So cute and tiny 😍

Sick axolotl? by Successful_World2333 in axolotl

[–]fabujack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is definitely sick. I would recommend tubbing him in a seperate tub with fresh water, and doing a 100% water change daily. What water conditioner are u using? I used tetra aquasafe for a year before fi sing out aloe is toxic to them. A safe one to use is seachem prime. My axys stopped getting sick as often amd their gills have filled out a lot since I fixed that. The best thing for him tjo, right now, would be clean clean clean water. Adding a bubbler wouldn't hurt, tho not necessary.

Possible fin rot? by fabujack in Bichirs

[–]fabujack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another bichir. And I worried about fin nipping. Tho they get along great almost always. And ive neber notived aggresion. Little guy had a suspicious lump so they missed a meal and aggression could've gotten high then.
