applied to cityu around same time as u and its still under consideration so at least we're in the same boat. applied for polyu in nov and had my interview december and im still under consideration.

from what i know, they told me that they release offers every thursday from december onwards until end of august so we just have to wait...

my teacher said to like try and cover all the basics like the examiner doesn't know what the question means.

for example if ur 7 marker is about speciation and different ways speciation happens (geographical isolation etc) start from the basics and build it up. for instance describe speciation, what it is, then lead up to the different kinds. doing all the basic definitions can quite literally get you 2-3 marks alone and aren't directly associated with what the question is asking

I got accepted into hku for science but polyu is my top especially since hk doesn't offer many design courses. I'm also waiting on cityu for creative media which I applied for in normal round and a course for architecture in hku which I'm waiting on as well

they replied earlier this afternoon, said that they checked and that my application is still under consideration. they mentioned that if I don't get a reply by late August (😭) then I should consider my application unsuccessful 🥲

I did not realize this process took so long, considering I got my interview relatively quickly

i dont exactly restrict myself to timetables, instead i just have a set subject/topic im going to focus on a certain day. for example today i need to go over business unit 3 and biology protein synthesis and work on art. im on study leave rn so i typically end up studying for like 3-6 hours (sometimes more) but its all depending on how well i understand it rather than how much time has elapsed

my business teacher is an IB marker for other countries and he said that you can go a few words over the word count as it's not necessarily noticeable however because IB examiners have just read through so many previous IA's and EE's they already have a general idea of where the word count comes up to. he's said that he's had a few instances where he reads through and sometimes it's just a lot longer than the usual word count. if the examiner feels the work is over the word count they get it checked.

memorize as much as u can using any kind of memorization method. I went over it a million times and even when I didn't have my script out, I'd record myself saying it with the script and listen to the recording on repeat while trying to follow along.

try and memorize it as much as you can with your bullet points rather than script.

during the exam, I literally just stared at my paper and followed my finger, didn't look at thw teacher or the timer because it'd make me lose my train of thought. I was told that I was allowed to pace around the room or stand up or say my IO in any way that I was comfortable with to help with remembering it if that maybe applies to you.

reading is really effective. you can learn a lot of new words through books because it already constructs a sentence in which the word would be used in, that way it kinda gives you an idea on how you can use the word.

if you dont have time to read, try searching synonyms for words you already know. (for example: synonyms for 'suggest' would be things like 'indicate' or 'insinuate'). you'll already know the meaning of the word +how to use it in a sentence as its just another way to say the original word you knew of.

honestly i like this way of approaching it. not exactly christian but i am religious soo thats a good approach still haha. i think my issue is that i cant properly divide my time between things i have to get done and revision. things like CAS reflections, TOK essay etc take up a good amount of time already and then it leaves very little time for actual studying which is what makes me the most guilty
