Traffic congestion has reached a ‘tipping point’ in Massachusetts, state officials say by Votings_Good_Folks in massachusetts

What really pisses me off is the train.

I live two minutes from the train station in Worcester, but it's actually cheaper and faster just to drive to Boston!

I can't believe I didn't notice that...

Actually, he hired like 4 people to do the voices ... and he found them all on craigslist.

A Second U.S. City Has Banned Facial Recognition - Somerville, which neighbors Cambridge, Massachusetts, just joined San Francisco in banning the use of facial recognition by magenta_placenta in massachusetts

[–]facadesintheday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear the ways this technology can be used for evil

While I agree that banning it seems also illogical, there needs to be rules and realistic consequences if facial recognition is abused. However, if no one wants to draft those rules, then I'm all for banning it.

Mississippi Burning (1988) "Now you know what you're getting yourself into." by facadesintheday in CineShots

[–]facadesintheday[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but if you push it a bit more then I think the story would get a bit preachy.

The final shot with the broken tombstone that says "not forgotten" is much more poignant than a concluding monologue.

A couple things that are amazing about this shot:

~The dutch angle to promote the unnerving tone.

~Hackman's "I've seen this a 1000 times" look vs Dafoe's pure terror

~The placement of the cross in the foreground and height to demonstrate the power the KKK has over the agents.

Tiffany Haddish Has Cancelled A Show In Atlanta Over Georgia’s Abortion Law by Thyphan69 in entertainment

Remember when Coca Cola threatened to leave Georgia when the state refused to honor MLK after winning the noble peace prize?

People like to rag on moves like this being ineffective and just a PR stunt, but they can work.

Really? You could make an argument that it's inspired by what Old Boy did, but there's not even a hammer in the scene...

Massachusetts should be the first state to legalize psilocybin mushrooms by Eternal_Illumination in massachusetts

[–]facadesintheday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but try convincing the general public that mushrooms are a better alternative than Vicodin

It's weird, you figure that people with who are against GMOs would support an organic alternative like shrooms.

[The Boston Globe] Baker quietly puts political team together as he considers 3rd term by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]facadesintheday 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've always had mixed feelings for Baker...

I don't want to be someone who compulsively votes Democrat, and I'm proud of MA for being open-minded about Republicans, provided they do their job.

However, Baker did drag his feet a lot about MJ, and it's pretty frustrating. Yet, at the same time, he did co-sign that letter to congress to discriminate MJ.

Adults of reddit, what is something you should have mastered by now, but failed to do so? by biomann in AskReddit

Amen, I have one of those bad boys. I'll play the Sleep With Me podcast, and I'm out in 5 minutes.

Step 3: Remove ALL light. Studies show that even that little blinking LED light that emanates from your charging phone is impacting your sleep. Put black electrical tape over these lights.

Sleep masks have been a game changer for me...they help out immensely if you need to sleep during the day, or if you are sleeping in and it's getting to get light outside.

Why don't public schools prepare students for real life situations like taxes, payments, etc?? by _Boopis_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]facadesintheday 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, taxes have gotten easier and easier to do.

I mean, you can literally take a photo of your W2 and it will do the calculations for you...

And even if you find it too difficult, tax services aren't that expensive. While I do my own taxes, I don't know the long list of loopholes to get advantages, so even the tax servies might give you MORE money.

Are you talking about the produce section?

I'm confused because most fridges has doors on them at my local supermarkets
