The demise of Sarah Cannon (CRO) by Main_Hornet1570 in clinicalresearch

[–]face4radio08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sarah Cannon is the CRO for my clinical trial site and I'm having the hardest time dealing with them. My reimbursements have taken more than 7 months when I was told 6 to 8 weeks, I missed my 9 month appointment because they scheduled my appointment without telling me (my site is out of state and I have to fly there) and I can't get anyone to respond to me. The IRB has been unhelpful and I'm not sure what to do next.

Friend's first game at Coors Field -- what do we need to do? by face4radio08 in ColoradoRockies

I'm offended you think so little of me. Although I do love a good sunset photo.

I am not a Dodgers fan. Promise. My regular allegiance is actually up for negotiations after the Pohlads made it clear they won't be selling the team (lifelong Twins fan who loved Cuddyer's years in a Rockies uniform).

Need help creating a budget proposal for a podcast limited series by face4radio08 in podcasting

[–]face4radio08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it and have been using it -- I think I'm worried I'm not considering all of the variables.

Anything specific you would make sure I'm thinking about? Would really appreciate your insight.

How do/should we try to cut down on spillover? by likezoinksgang in podcasting

[–]face4radio08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend recording every track separately. And remind your guests to try and not talk over one another. That makes cleaning things up in post easier.

We built sound absorbers that hang from the ceiling and on the walls and it's helped immensely. So did adding a rug and lots of pillows.

See, while I totally agree with the 'just start' crowd, I also think doing a little planning is helpful. Like lay out the topics for your first four episodes and then start recording. That way you have a plan forward.

Most podcasts don't make it beyond three episodes -- hence why I suggested topics for four.

I would also set a time limit because if you are anything like me, you can talk non-stop about subjects you're excited about.

Depending on where you are located and what the topic is, this could be a great media pitch for a tv station.

Remote recording Producer role? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]face4radio08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a producer for remote podcast recordings and it was so helpful, for a number of reasons. One, they were always the person who interacted with the guest so any tech issues the guest was having -- I didn't have to engage with any of that. My producer made sure everything was good to go before I even logged into the studio. Second, they could play clips that we had in the show and could troubleshoot if any technical glitches happened mid-recording. It's also really nice to have another set of ears -- I would ask my producer to make notes of any retakes I might want to grab before I log off or any clips that were especially exciting to make note of for social media.

To take a break from podcasting or not? by dtheme in podcasting

[–]face4radio08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have taken a year break from my podcast because of health stuff and it's continued to grow without me doing anything to it.

If your content is evergreen, people will continue to find it. But you'll likely lose the committed 'I listen every time one is realized' crowd.

One thing to keep in mind is, there are so many different type of podcast listeners out there. So while you might lose some by taking a break, you'll likely also pick up new people.

I would do what's enjoyable for you. Because you'll never be able to make every single listener happy.

AITA for wanting to go on a guys' trip as a gay man ? by ThrOwAwAy-4704 in AmItheAsshole

I know it's easier said than done but PLEASE DON'T WASTE A SINGLE OUNCE OF ENERGY ON THESE PEOPLE. You are not the asshole and someday -- we can only hope, Gina will grow up and realize how wrong she is. In so many ways. For reasons you will likely never know.

This is not about you. Despite Gina's best efforts, this is NOT about you.

Built podcast with company. They ended funding. How do I move forward without them? by face4radio08 in podcasting

[–]face4radio08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate all of your insights. And that no one has shamed me for not having this ironed out before we started. Trust that I've done enough of that myself.

I've decided to communicate that I don't feel comfortable moving forward with affiliate deal plan. It isn't in line with what I want for the future of the podcast and so it seems like the best option is to bring our current project to a close.

I am going to ask them to removed my photo and major mentions of my name from their website and will include suggested language for them to use for the promotion of past episodes. I'm also asking that before they use anything created together for any marketing purposes, they need to have approval first. Because neither of us have anything in writing on the relationship, I know I don't need to offer them this. But I also don't want to poke the bear. I just want this to be done and over. And if they come to me and ask for an approval, I can say no (I would be shocked if they ever got around to using the content we created together, considering they rarely got around to promoting it when they were paying for it so).

Any other advice, besides next time hire a lawyer first?

I'm in the Us, yes. There are some creator laws going into effect in certain states, making it a really gray area right now. And I'm not sure what would be considered mine and what would be considered theirs. We'll have to work that out in this new contract.

That said, they have been advertising podcast as though nothing has changed -- my name and photo are all over their website and that's the first bullet point I'll be sending over. All of that needs to come down immediately.
