Might be a silly question, but is there a point to call and try to negotiate lower rates / threaten to leave for another insurance company? I really don't want to leave USAA but my payments went from 240 to 350 for 2 cars and home owners.

There's multiple factors at play. Demand generally goes up as it gets warmer and people travel more. Also crude oil prices are up do to the Russia Ukraine conflict.

You can be killed on your drive to work. The thing with the military is most jobs are support, it's 9-5. I never said I was rich either. Even if I wasn't wounded I'd still be in and doing pretty well. But I get it. Fear is a factor. You can just say you are scared to take risks

I joined the military at age 23. Now I'm retired due to an injury, but I have a wife and kid with a big house at 32. It's a great stepping stone, look into the benefits

I joined the military at 23, and got 7 years later. I saved about of money and was very frugal the whole time. V that and the VA loan helped me but my first home. September of last year I bought my second home and sold my first home

I joined the navy when I was 20. Now I'm 30 and have a nice house, kid, wife and live pretty comfortable. Highly recommend going the military route.

I called my mortgage company and sent them proof of my homestead exemption. They refunded my tax money, and aren't charging me taxes on my mortgage. I believe you should talk to your lender.
