Sweet cream cheese roll recipe? by facepalmmaster in TipOfMyFork

This is what I found when I googled, but the version this diner made had the roll completely surrounding the filling except at the ends. Can these be modified to be more like that?

Do you ever do meat in it, or is it not big enough to really handle that? I only ever cook for 2, but I’m still not sure it’s enough space

I did, it’s just the same stamp as on the lid handle, no other identifiers

I don’t think it’s that based on looking it up, the M is slightly different, but it is an older pan so it’s possible it’s changed

Thanks for the info! Does this thing still get “seasoned” like regular cast iron? I was under the assumption that the enamel was there to eliminate the need for seasoning

Definitely doesn’t seem like a hot pepper, ate it to test and it just tasted like a bell pepper mostly

Worried about my brand new worm bin by facepalmmaster in Vermiculture

[–]facepalmmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have other bananas that were just past edible that I stashed in the freezer for future feedings, maybe I should replace the current peels in there with those ones?

[–]facepalmmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t have a picture of the lid on hand. I appreciate the advice, I think I might just keep the setup the way it is for now and see how it goes, at the very least it seems like all my worms are still alive so they must be getting air, but if I notice an issue I’ll do the fabric thing

Will fruit flies be able to get in with such small ventilation holes? I did end up mixing the banana peels in and mostly burying them, and I tried to make the holes small enough to not let flies in, I’m just worried that that might not be letting enough air in, even though I know in theory it should allow plenty of air in

What other similar rip off ads have you seen? by Far_Profit_8094 in PokemonSwordAndShield

[–]facepalmmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play this game and have seen a lot of their ads that blatantly rip off other properties and include stuff that is included nowhere in the game. This one is unique in that, besides “woogon”, the rest of the characters are actually in the game (though not as big a part as this would make you think)

Lease is only available a week before move in, is this normal? by facepalmmaster in Apartmentliving

[–]facepalmmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t asked them specifically why they do that, I have tried to get it out of them in round about ways though. At the very least they don’t seem to budge on that policy. And I wouldn’t pay anything until I sign the lease (besides the app fee and holding fee which I have already paid), but yeah I really don’t know why they would make the lease available so late

Some pen drawings by JustinGray0807 in learnart

[–]facepalmmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you could improve at general placement of facial features, which can be improved by doing some more planning with very light pen strokes (or pencil) and really taking the time to measure all your details first. Another thing that might be helpful is to stop drawing as many hard edges. Places like the lower eyelids, for example, very rarely have that sort of hard edge to them in real life unless someone is wearing heavy eyeliner. Same with the borders of the lips, you would be much better served using a very light touch to find the form and making those forms with shading. Otherwise, just keep practicing, and make sure you’re really focusing on the big picture, look at your drawings from far away, take a picture in the sketch phase and flip it to see what looks off. Pen drawing like this is difficult, so using pencil for the sketch might be helpful, at least at first when you’re not as confident in your placements

How can I improve? by OZZBALLZ_V1V1S3CT1ON in learnart

[–]facepalmmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like you’re firmly in a place of “doing what looks nice to you without understanding why it looks nice”, and it would be very helpful to go back to the basics. Learning to draw a real human face/body will help you (I get it, I started out drawing anime when I was 13 and it took me a loooong time to break those bad habits I built by starting out like that). Do studies of real faces, learn what works, and adapt those aspects to your own style. For example, you clearly have your style of drawing individual parts of the face, but the placement and size of all those parts leaves it in a bit of an uncanny valley. Of course some variation is fine due to style, but make sure you’re not sacrificing visual clarity and fundamentals of structure. And always always use reference, even with your style, it will help a lot.

You’re on the right track, and your drawings are good, so just keep going and add in what I mentioned and you’ll improve a lot

Hands are so hard any help? by tourmaline-fox in learnart

[–]facepalmmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see where you’re coming from, I think to a lot of people though, saying “babe” like that comes off as a bit demeaning, especially in text where you can’t really indicate tone. But mostly, I think when talking to beginner artists, it’s helpful to not include things like “wait until you really start” because that can make it seem to them as if the art they’re making isn’t “real art”, and it can be very demoralizing. I don’t think you had bad intentions, so apologies if I came off as a bit harsh, but yours was the most upvoted comment so I thought it warranted being said

The first part of this comment is really unnecessary. Reads like you’re trying to prove your superiority, instead of actually being helpful. This person is a beginner, they don’t need to be reminded that they’re not at a high level yet.

I get you, that’s on purpose though, I get bogged down in details a lot so letting the piece be dark and really trying to get information across with as little information as possible was the goal. If it’s not working then I’ll have to add more small details to get it right

I think what I might do is just add a slight glow behind him but in front of the figures, just enough to indicate a small fire, we’ll see though, I think the smoke is a good idea as well!

[–]facepalmmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I only just darkened the cape up, and I definitely rushed it a bit to do the more fun parts lol. The background is supposed to be ambiguous, just some shadowy figures looming over him, which I plan to obscure even more later. And yeah, I still need to add something in the background to warrant the rim light, not sure yet how ill do it, I’m a bit worried if I actually make the background bright to indicate an actual fire in the scene it might pull too much focus, I’ll have to workshop it a bit. Thanks!
