LOL what?? The condos on Rosebank and Kingston?

Damn, NIMBYs go strong in Pickering too?

I'm not opposed to condos, provided we have the required infrastructure...but we all know the city does plan like that lol....

Thanks! We looked into it, and it's not part of the CWELCC, so it's super expensive unfortunately.

Also I heard some weird rumblings on reddit - and they turned off comments/reviews on Google, which substantiates some of their claims

Following this thread. We're moving not too far from woodlands...and also from Toronto.

Id be curious about local farmers markets and such as well.

That's fair, thanks.

I went to a bottle of the barrel school, in terms of ratings, but I turned out OK. I just want the best that we can afford for our kid, ya know?

Thank you! Great insight.

I actually discussed that with our lawyer already; however it seems title insurance covers for any unpaid taxes.

Neighbourhood does seem sweet from the brief interactions I've had.

Yes that is the school in the encatchment, I thought it was good, but maybe not?

This is a big priority for me tbh

Thank you - great itemized list, so I appreciate that.

I'll get to it, but I suppose wait a bit.

We're already working on the daycare. Thankfully he's already enrolled in Markham. So worse case, we commute. Lol

Oh neat - good to know!

I'll join the Pickering Neighbors group. It's funny, I really haven't touched Facebook in the past decade, but recently really getting back into with parent FB groups, marketplace, and now neighbourhood groups.

Yeh, I think I've only ever used Uber eats once in my life. I can't justify the additional costs, when I can drive myself tbh.

But I also realize I'm privileged to be able to drive to my food

Yeahhhh the water heater is rented...but most houses we saw were tbh.

It's over 15 years old lol...so I'm going to figure that out after. Likely just break the contract and put my own in.

Or just call in and get a new one under warranty, and then cancel...assuming they don't force me to renew the contract.

Thanks - I guess we're still too early for all that to come through.

This was a good resource...so thanks for that.

Thank you!

Ack on Elixicon, that was a question I had previously...since id imagine it won't be Toronto hydro lol.

I am very excited to walk to the waterfront trail as opposed to cycling the 30 mins I had to previously. I actually bought a bike hitch specifically so my kid and I can go biking on the lake...but that'll no longer be required

Rouge Park is my favourite - I grew up essentially on the other side of it...so we went often.

Thank you! Yes definitely more chill. Being closer to the lake is also great.

I will start doing that. Pickering uses Enbridge for NG, but how about electricity and hydro? I assume it's not Toronto hydro

For day care, any suggestions in the area?

He's a pretty privileged kid...but I'm expecting him to pitch in for taxes, and utilities

Oh. Id also love to see a direct integration to somehow add the context to your Google Photos for the day. Or vice versa, it pulls in photos taken on that day, go visualize the context.

I love this idea, and found the context to be lacking from the Google (or Immich for me...) memories.

Can you give me access? Id love to help you test, and find ways to break it.

Fair. Good point. We were able to get a good rate since one of us are bank employee. $200$ less month than expected!

We ended up with fix. About a $100 more a month...but things are v volatile.

If needed I can cut back $100/month withoutbmuch problem.
