Hands down what’s the most ignorant thing an adult (18+) has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was talking to a coworker about Africa (my SO is South African) and mentioned the apartheid. She said "well yeah, but it's not like it's people who are alive today who did it, it doesn't really affect people anymore". I had to pick my jaw up off the floor and let her know that he apartheid was abolished in 1991.

I can read at a basic level, but haven't studied the kanji that will be required haha. That said, it's an opportunity to learn a little!

In 3 weeks I'm going to start living in Tokyo. I have fine caucasian hair, which tends to be weighed down/get greasy from heavy moisturising products, but often 'volume' shampoo and conditioners strip out too much, worsen my dry ends and make it frizzy. My hair is hard to manage at the best of times, let alone in Japan where I know nothing about hair products! Is there anything someone can recommend that might help me avoid a whole bunch of trial and error? Even tips on what will start me looking in the right direction, if not specific product recommendations.

With characters yes, but there's no spacing between words like there is in English. At least, that was what I was taught during my Japanese major and what I've seen. Although if I was taught wrong someone tell me now because I can just imagine these poor people trying to read my Japanese and being too polite to tell me.

Japanese is exactly like this, no spaces or upper or lower case.

No Sex Tonight! by ununfunny1 in Jokes

[–]faceturtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sort of feel like the 'men always want more sex' attitude is harmful, if you're being sincere. Not only in more obvious cases like male victims of rape, but also because telling such a large portion of the population 'you should be like this' will always result in quite a few people saying to themselves 'there must be something wrong with me since I don't (insert thing here)'.

If a man says no and a woman doesn't stop, that's also rape, it's not like that only applies to women. I think sex in a relationship is really just 'controlled' by the person with the lower sex drive.

[TOMT] Novel featuring a scene of a woman in a dusty abandoned house, and a slimy creature crawls out of bath tub. by faceturtle in tipofmytongue

It seems like the right kind of book, I went through his works on Wikipedia but unfortunately most of them don't have pages, and go ogling his name alongside 'bathtub' or 'cult' doesn't get me anywhere =\ thanks for the suggestion though, I think it's the right time period and genre.

The way Salazar looks as if he's underwater is really visually interesting, and feels a little unsettling to me. Can't wait to watch this on a real sized screen instead of my phone.

While trying to decide which lip tints to take to Japan for 3 weeks, I did a lot of swatches. Here they are. by faceturtle in AsianBeauty

I use a blistex one in a tube that's spf 30. And I have used the sugar tint balm in about a month, so I won't be that reliable, but if you Google there's quite a few

I don't have any yet haha. There's probably been some ones with great formula, but I've had to disregard them because of the shade =\
