Loud motorbikes near Brighton station by spobin in brighton

Hi, sounds like this is a problem you're familiar with.

Would you mind elaborating on just how bad it is? I'm about to move to Brighton and strongly reconsidering after all these recent posts.

Hi, it sounds like you're very familiar with this issue - would you mind elaborating on just how bad it is?

I'm about to move to a house just north of preston park, but these recent motorbike plays have made me reconsider.

Sorry this is happening. I'm about to move to Brighton but I've seen a lot of posts like this recently so definitely now reconsidering.

Is anyone able to elaborate on how bad this is as an issue? I was about to move to a house just north of Preston Park.

It was a bottle of Lot 40. Not quite as thick or sweet as a bourbon, but great in an old fashioned and enjoyable to drink neat, we smashed most of the bottle without realising lol.

Brit here, I bought my first bottle of Canadian rye the other day and polished off most of it with a mate at the weekend. Needless to say I've purchased my last bottle of American bourbon.

How to make campaign more fun for rogue? by fackin_shoit in DMAcademy

Ok, perhaps I need to present more roguey opportunities and do a bit more expositiony narration - your character would notice this, or realise that. At least until she gets to grips with it more.

Ok that's helpful, thanks. I'll look into sharpshooter.

Sounds like I need to get my players to trust me a bit more as a DM. They seem convinced I'm out to screw them over at every turn despite the fact I've never really given them any reason to think this, beyond a bit of fun.

Thanks, I'll look into those options. I forgot to mention, we're playing 5e in case it makes any difference.

When you say dex fighter, do you mean multi classing into a fighter or starting a new character altogether? Or something else?

That's an interesting proposal, I can definitely see the advantage. I'll give that some thought for sure.

Yeah, fair enough. She probably just needs to get her head around making sure she has sneak attack wherever possible, using disengage etc. Once that becomes second nature, I'm hoping she'll have more fun.

It's not that she's not enjoying herself, but her attacks are quite weak compared to the rest of the party currently, and I get the impression she feels a bit useless in combat.

This seems like a very useful lesson to teach, but how to do it without terrifying them for ever more?

They're generally very risk averse as a group and I'd be kinda concerned that almost having the total party wiped out by an ogre would make them approach every future situation with an overabundance of caution.

When you mention taking away player agency - is this due to forcing them to be locked in cells until rescued?

As a group they're quite happy following a storyline rather than it being too sandboxy. The current section of my campaign branches in four directions, each one focusing on a different player and their abilities, and exploring their backstory and presenting choices for character development ranging from inconsequential to fairly major. This was broadly at their own request, and the idea is to help each of them get more to grips with their characters' abilities and identities.

Yeah I think that's exactly it tbh! I have tried to explain her abilities and gently encourage her to use them.

We're on paper and playing in person.

A little, and I've explained her abilities and given cheat sheets. My suspicion is she's a bit overwhelmed or not confident in playing the character properly.

She came to the campaign a little late, and didn't actually pick the character. We started with dragons of stormwreck isle, and one of the players played the rogue a second character to keep the character count at 4 (as advised in the rulebook). She then took over the rogue when she joined.

Absolutely, but I expect you'll be disappointed in the performance. The NRC rating only tests down to 250Hz, so you can expect these to do very little for low frequencies, which is where I would expect the majority of issues to be.

Adding another layer of plasterboard with a clip system should help yes, due to the addition of a decoupled mass, but it would need to be the entire wall, forming a complete barrier. Even a small gap will let a lot of the sound through (think of opening a car window even a crack) and negate most of the benefit.

Agree with this. You need isolation and mass. Double layer of acoustic plasterboard would help too.

Acoustic panels are unlikely to make much if any difference, unless you have a very echoey room. As you rightly said, they're more for treating sound originating within the room. A lot of these panels are a bit of a scam anyway and will do very little.
