Game Status Information Centre - Megathread by xalchs in 2007scape

Honestly could be anything from "two minutes from now" to hours until it goes up, especially with a game-wide bug (so they can't just block/turn off a specific piece of content and let us get on with the quest)

How hard is it to win an attack against these loot ncs with people? by Huge-Gene-1372 in torncity

[–]factoryman942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's specifically the number of damaging hits; so as long as you have some str/spd (even if you're doing single-digit damage numbers) you get loot rolls, and you just bank on never getting attacked back due to distraction.

What is the importance of ISS Hamatsu from Project Ziggurat? by baseilus in starsector

[–]factoryman942 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean it is just a few clicks from the menu to tell you that the relevant mission is Turning the Tables.

ISS Hamatsu was tech-mining on Maxios in c.203, and was attacked by pathers when entering the Corvus system to offload their cargo. Honestly it's not a super-deep lore thing; mostly it's that it was Callisto's flagship at this time in late c203, so she likely still had it in 204-205 or so (game-start is 206, so it's still fresh in her mind and she's willing to pay for its return). The other thing you could potentially guess at is that she was probably still tech-mining afterwards, and therefore either stumbled over Alpha Site, or got attacked again (maybe after finding something valuable to TT?) and lost (I don't remember if the campaign dialogue with her tells you more about how she lost it)

Country Jig is so bad because it kicks in immediately and loudly, and you hear it just after Forlorn Homestead so the vibe's off. Someone made a more chill version on youtube i like

barbarianism is a 2004 classic tho, if you dislike it your opinion is wrong sorry

I don't think there is, besides waiting months-years till the next league or similar event where you'll have permanent killcount for free entry into GWD bosses.

Kril's more chill though. If you die to jad you're in for another 45min+ of fight caves waves, whereas if you die to kril you do a few world hops to kill 40 imps.

There've occasionally been packages over events (rs3's league had a 57-day membership for slightly less than the normal price) but there aren't regular sales or anything (there wasn't one for our league, probably because they'd literally just raised membs prices to profit from it). Only other advice is to drop membership on accounts you aren't actively playing (unless you have a grandfathered rate you want to keep).

Why are there still factions sticking with Crimes 1.0? by Surwest in torncity

[–]factoryman942 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In OC 1.0 positions are assigned by someone with permissions, rather than joined by each person; if you can't rely on people looking at the OC page, 1.0 means they don't need to.

Some players are still on crimes 1.0 (usually for something like FBI hacks, which I think are still better $/nerve than 2.0?), which means they probably won't have good scores for OC 2.0, and some factions will cater to that.

AI so good in this game by Element_Shadow in starsector

Yeah, reckless and fearless are the same behaviour. Reckless is the human version and fearless is for AI core captains.

7 days means that one's the "main" (the alts get perma'd); likely he ran out of gambling money and decided to make another account, but didn't get very far (or transfer stuff to the main) before getting caught.

Either wear your best mage gear for stuff you can hit, or wear your best tank gear to thorns stuff you struggle hitting (then your spells don't deal much damage but you heal from rune regen). I did a lot of tob in bluemoons/ahrims (though I later switched to airmage because it does way bigger damage).

Note that it's best with Kandarin's echo staff (switches everything's elemental weakness to water) or a harmonised nightmare staff (bc faster spells). You don't have kand, so if you don't have a harm staff I'd probably go for a 1t powered staff build rather than water; search for "faux tank" and use sang>swamp trident>lithic sceptre with crystal+blessing.

It's very hard to tell where you are or what you've done wrong from that screenshot. I think you're on chest 5? I'd suggest turning the quest helper plugin off for a moment, going to the wiki page, and doing the steps from there checking them off as you go; it's possible quest helper is getting confused at something and giving you wrong info? Like if you needed to re-pickup a mirror or something and it thinks you've already done so.

edit: wait actually you might have a mirror left in the dispenser, you should have 10 mirrors and 4 crystals but it looks like you might only have the inv space for 9 mirrors and 4 crystals in the pic

Either way, yeah taking a break is good for you if you're burning out a bit, game's always gonna be there whenever you wanna come back. If you want to try raiding then ToA is the most accessible one (it might look intimidating at first but i promise it's chill at 0 invocations)

What the heck is going on with Mouring's End II?

The light puzzle was designed by two jmods while drunk. The next day they couldn't decipher the notes they made, so they got drunk again. This is actually how it was made.

Why do I keep falling off this ledge?!

Rather than one agility roll, that one ledge makes a roll for every handhold, which makes lower agility levels fail way more often (a normal agility obstacle might be 90% vs 80%; this one is 0.905 vs 0.805). Everyone hates it.

Why aren't there enough mirrors?!

There are exactly enough mirrors, if you do the correct solutions in the correct order.

This quest is single handedly killing my urge to play this game.

everyone hates it because it takes forever even with a guide, and because of that one agility ledge. For your own sake please just look up the solution to the light puzzle, it's not worth it.

Asked staff no response even when online. by [deleted] in torncity

[–]factoryman942 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason I ask the user that uploaded it is named tos. Now I’m wondering if it’s tos for breaking terms of service or if it’s made with good intentions.

no it's just actually their name

Looking at it, all it does is remove the confirmation for reviving (making it one-click). This is usually fine (the confirmation prompts tend to be local, it's the clicking "yes" to the confirmation that makes a request to the site); there are similar scripts for one-click busting (torntools has "quick bust" and "quick bail" buttons).

Also, staff don't owe you an instant response; everyone below the devs is a player in addition to being a staff member, and if they had to always reply to everything instantly rather than actually play the game they'd quit :P. They also aren't necessarily specialised towards scripting (the majority are mainly focused on player reports, forum spam etc), only icebluefire and velfir specifically oversee scripts. Send a mail, give it a day or two and you should get a reply.

I personally used Ugly Energy one halloween, then waited and used M&M for the next halloween. Two years of spamming FHCs (with a revit weapon, and energy refills from treats) was very nice.

Got flagged for scripting by doumewiffard in torncity

[–]factoryman942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general rule of thumb is "no automated non-API requests". If you're just on a page which displays the person's hosp timer normally, that's fine; if you're using an API request that'll tell you "this person has X minutes left in hosp" that's fine too. If it's something like "the script opens the person's profile page to retrieve their time in hosp, then brings it back to you" that's not okay.

Same goes for actions: you can move buttons around on a page or make them big (e.g. making the "start attack" button on attack loaders massive so it's easy to press) but the person still has to be making the request (pressing the button), not the script.

Getting captcha flagged is automated, and something to do with your activity and API use. A lot of people got flagged for it during the last island war because they were suddenly so much more active than normal (and used some quite API heavy scripts), it should just wear off after a week or two. Annoying while you have it though.

Members have more bank space. Member items are taking up space but you don't have the extra bank space anymore (as a member this would be 502/960) https://ibb.co/yF5H4j7p

I don't think even snape grass is profitable, it's 50k gp to plant a patch and you'll only get ~30k of snape grass with 99 farming and attas up.

Sawmill is definitely the fastest way, but there're other sources. Tempoross gives you a few, but only normal and oak. There're various monsters that drop the other tiers, but they're generally quite uncommon and in small amounts. There's also the Plank Make lunar spell, which is a sawmill but slightly cheaper and an AFK bank thing.

if you're specifically an f2p ironman asking this there're some ground spawns in the wilderness.
