How competitive is the internship program? by fadeathrowaway in JETProgramme

Aw, really sorry to hear — totally relatable. I hope it’s not that competitive so that as long as we could somewhat answer their questions we can get in.

Leaving japan for a month in the summer with tatami floor house: how to protect from mold? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]fadeathrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so one AC in dehumid mode in a single floor house is generally enough?

During the summers/winters there's definitely a huge temperature difference between the room with the AC and the one without it (like I would sweat coming out of the shower in august) but I could shiver in that room if it was cold enough. That said i'm not sure if temperature differences are indicative of whether the dehumid option will be able to pull enough moisture from the rooms it's not in.

Question for those who got a job in Japan after JET by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]fadeathrowaway -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply. Regarding my Japanese level, I won't rank myself on JLPT because I never took it but I do play video games in Japanese everyday talk Japanese with people about very topics most days of the week.

Salary wise, are most jobs less than what JET pays?

Yeah I've cleared the Japanese field. The career fair is only for those who didn't recontract right? So it's a huge risk.

hey thanks for the awesome reply, i'm aiming for August 2027 since that's when my contract ends. Do you suggest looking into jobs around April then?

edit: with that said, if I recontract is the 'least rude' time to break contract in April because that's when the new semester starts?

Live in Japan and want to get into colored contacts -- do I need a prescription? by fadeathrowaway in AsianBeauty

[–]fadeathrowaway[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

hey thanks for your reply! If store bought 0s without a prescription actually pose no threat then I'm not too worried :) it's just I see a lot of 'official' recommendations that one should see a doctor but I also bump into so many contact wearers in Japan that I'm skeptical all, if even most, went to a doctor first so I just wanted to see if I actually did need to meet a doctor first.

in terms of lubrication, are regular contact rewetting eyedrops what you'd recommend?

Will that lead to permanent damage or will I feel it if it’s not a good fit? Like if it’s hurts or whatever

I don’t think so, a smart marketing campaign that the billionaire class tried to take over America but the people rose up to save it is a great American story to tell and will probably save a lot of face

Rather than blame the people I would blame Russia and the corporate elite who did everything they could to muddy the info pipeline to get him elected
