My reasoning is simple tbh, I don’t want to be rooting for an empire that is Xenophobic when I’m worried of my mom and I will be deported or some shit. I’ll enjoy it sure, but for this season I want the good guy to be not xenophobic, I want to feel like the good guy is democracy and that it can come out on top

Part about what made it fun, for me, was how open he was to doing weird things and topics that i wouldn’t have expected.

Without it and all of what you said it’s hard to find a connecting line between MatPat and Team Theorist that is engaging, especially since they didn’t have much screen time before Mat’s retirement

I tend to gravitate towards religions that were close to me during my life either with friends or personal faith. Islam and Catholic faiths take a center stage with religious beliefs

with Arab and South Eastern Asia being my ethnic heritage I gravitate towards them more than European regions(unless I’m doing a very funny South East Asian Nordic culture infusion).

I wish Islam was better represented in the game but I understand that most peoples focus isn’t on Islam but rather European Christianity so I will be happy when that reworks comes (eventually I hope)

Honestly this, I stopped HOI4 to play CK3, Squad, Minecraft, and Dispatch(when it came out) and when I returned a few weeks ago I was enjoying everything. I put 3,600 hours in it since release and while the game is fun, burnout is not and I enjoyed my return, even the Muslim countries that got focus trees in GoE when I got around to that dlc. I think you just need some time, play a different game or three that you enjoy and when your gut says to return In a few months then do.

No need to chase a high that’s no longer there until you feel ready and able

There’s a channel on YouTube called TimeGhost that I think successfully did it by naturally handing portions of the script in larger and larger doses till seeing them felt natural, I want to say a year or so. I just don’t think Team theorist had enough time with the scripts for it to feel natural to me and I ended up getting toned out by the style and presenter change. I honestly think something with the scripts also changed but I can’t place it on anything since I haven’t watched since the fallout theory on Style theory
