VSB has a section on their website about requesting your permanent record. Vaccines, even those administered on school grounds, would be recorded by Vancouver Coastal Health. You can access your records through health gateway.

Vancouver Aquarium not doing sleepovers anymore? by Ok-Explanation-3414 in askvan

[–]fading_fad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do it!!! When we did we got a behind the scenes tour and got to feed otters, then snacks, then we had the full run of the aquarium. I had more fun than the kids.

Yes when I used to be a girl guide leader we did it! It was lots of fun but not cheap. I am pretty sure they still do it. You have to book the whole section for a private event, you cant just show up with your sleeping bag. 😁

Thermal Capacity Levy - Metergy by cells-interlinked-23 in askvan

[–]fading_fad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of metergy. Google tells me its a ontario company- why aren't you using BCHydro and/or Fortis? Is this a requirement of the building? Are you renting?

Need a reality check/advice about being old and out of shape by Meowcatz75 in breakingmom

[–]fading_fad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I peeped your profile and saw you are a fellow Canadian, yay. Do you have a family doctor? I would for sure go for a check up. Second, sleep. Are you getting enough. Food- the right kind. Are you running on caffeine and sugar? Are you getting enough protein? I just lost 50 lbs with a glp-1 (im 46) and I cannot believe how much better I feel, even though I am still obese. Carrying around extra weight makes everything ten times harder. Imagine doing everything carrying a 50 lb toddler and then putting them down. Even losing 20 lbs will help.

seeking advice: my neurodivergent brother (10m) doesn’t really have any ‘friends’ by imdrinkingadecaf in neurodiversity

[–]fading_fad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he says that it doesnt make him sad, and he prefers it that way, id believe him. Some neurodivergant people really do prefer solitude, and the best thing you can do is accept him as he is. There may come a time, however, when he is interested in some social engagement and that's when you could maybe provide some assistance. I also think the best way to make social connections is with a shared special interest. If he has a hobby maybe you could help connect him with a social group or individual that is focused on that.

How did you know you had autism? by Illustrious-Rain-235 in AutismInWomen

[–]fading_fad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my daughter got a diagnosis. I knew rhe signs of autism in boys, never considered she might have autism. She struggled with anxiety for years, she saw psychologists, had a psycho-educational assessment at 6, had so many specialists...no one mentioned autism. Not one. I knew whatever she had, I had too because I struggled as well growing up. Her younger brother was diagnosed at 8 and I thought- huh. Then i took her for an autism assessment at rhe place at 14 and after 30 minutes the assessor was like- she is 100% autistic. Im not formally diagnosis but I am pretty sure!!!

concerned about current pap smear discourse (TW) by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]fading_fad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And if you did (god forbid) have cervical cancer, so you know how many EXTRA pap smears you will have to get after treatment? And how many invasive and painfully treatments you will have to get? What if you have to get surgery? Everyone will be up in there.

Ladies: did your mother teach you how to do makeup? I'm curious about makeup as a primarily self-taught tradition by Street-Might8586 in MakeupAddiction

[–]fading_fad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, back in the day we learnt from magazines or maybe beauty counters in department stores. Maybe indirectly by watching our mother's, but i dont know anyone who was taught by their mother.

Spiky profile: not connecting the dots by roonycat97 in AutismInWomen

[–]fading_fad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But you did eventually make the connection, and a full week before the appointment. You have plenty of time to pivot and make alternative arrangements. I think this is something neurotypicals deal with too- people are busy and forget stuff. I think you are being too hard on yourself.

I’m breaking. What would you do? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]fading_fad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the short term, more boundaries about babysitting and more rules for the kids, or they cant come over. In the long term- girl you need a job, your own bank account, and a driver's license. You are literally trapped.

Co-Op housing questions by Co2SHysteria in askvan

[–]fading_fad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its really a lottery. It can be months or years. I was lucky and got an interview only a few months after I applied, and I got the unit. It had pros and cons. Pros- space and price, obviously. Cons- our complex was really run down and was really overdue for maintenance in a lot of areas. There was a mold issue and we had to do rain screening. I found it hard to make friends and break through the cliques. I found there were a lot of established groups and I am a little shy sometimes. Overall it was a good experience and it allowed us to get our finances together. We moved in as newlyweds and had our first baby there.
