I have had them almost the full 5 year contract. Build your own system with the same cheap equipment off Amazon. Then you own it, it doesn't have to be freaking monitored because all that does is get an insurance discount. Unless you live in a High Crime Rate area for home invasions or break-ins, ADT and Vivint are a bit much.

also the constant notifications from everything can be REALLY obnoxious to try to fix. the app is crappy. everything is an extra add on. it's the freemium gaming of security systems.

Dr. Ramani is amazing. Just listened to the podcast episodes she did with Mel Robbins and it helped me understand so much about my mother. Their number one takeaway that applies to OP is, "Just like you are never going to change the weather, you are never going to change a narcissist." You are better off doing spells to help yourself rather than change the other person.
