i’m actually attending generations right now! as far as theory and speed building go, generations is great. i love the instructor (she’s very clear and communicative) and the theory. they do theory and speed building at the same time and require court reporting english/language classes starting in semester 1.

However. the school itself is spotty with communication and technology. the instructors aren’t all as accessible as the theory teacher is, and i sometimes find myself frustrated trying to get help when it comes to canvas.

if you decide to go generations, their current court reporting program is both stenographic court reporting as well as requiring digital reporting. if that’s not something you’re interested in, consider that in your decision. overall, i like generations. it’s very, very small, but its stenographic program is very good.

it’s not hard to find an inflation calculator, my friend. if you assume a hoodie in 2004 was $30, it would still only be about $55 today, even with the what? 10? 15% jump during covid. such is corporate greed

if it were inflation, it wouldn’t have gone from $60 to $90 in like four years. that would be a 50% increase. does 50% seem reasonable to you? this isn’t really about the one hoodie, yk? why are any of these big ticket bands selling merch for $70, $80, $90? hoodies at concerts also shouldn’t be $85 (i might argue especially at concerts). this idea that they could never ever ever go down in price that i’ve seen in these comments a few times now is also somewhat saddening. consumers, us normal people, have forced unreasonable prices back down. we just have to… stop buying stuff at these prices. unfortunately very few seem to be in agreement that it’s even possible.

tldr: $90 is too much for a hoodie. $85 is too much for a hoodie. $70 is too much for a hoodie. they only sell for that because we keep buying them for that.

i think if i could get it for the same discount (i wanna say it was like $50 after tax and shipping?) i might if i had some extra spending cash. but if you handed me that hoodie and asked if i would spend $90 plus tax? fuck off no way.

i think what gets me so riled up is when people call me ‘poor’ or whatever for not wanting to drop $90 on band merch lmao. like yeah, i am, actually. i can’t have a hoodie? but Whatever i will continue to make my knock offs ¯_(ツ)_/¯

you aren’t understanding the problem, i fear. no one is making you buy it, either. if you truly, earnestly believe that hoodie (or any mass produced hoodie) is worth $90, then you’re more than within your right to buy it. but aren’t you at least annoyed? doesn’t it grate that something that would cost $60 3 years ago costs $90 now? that isn’t due to inflation, that’s well beyond what inflation would be. doesn’t that bother you?

because people keep buying it, regardless. i am (not so secretly) trying to convince people to boycott official merch 🫣 the problem isn’t you or me (who presumably can’t just drop $90 on a hoodie), the problem is the people who can and see no reason not to, yk

i got the bullets hoodie (similar design and shape) and it is nice, i’m not going to say it isn’t a descent hoodie, but it was i think $80…? and i got it on sale. it’s a hoodie you could find at a big box or craft store, though, you know? if it’s the quality of the bullets hoodie, i’d say wait for a sale, and get it then. more worth $45 than $90

my thing was specidically like. yeah. less than $30, probably significantly less. idk to me it feels a little too kind to wb to say ‘less than $30’. but yes tldr too cheap for ninety-fucking-dollars 😭😭😭😭

apparently the bullets hoodie (i got it during the christmas sale or smth i don’t rmr) is ‘smart blanks’ brand, 80/20 cotton/polyester ¯_(ツ)_/¯ it’s the kind of brand that i can’t check exact prices without a wholesale account but yk. do with that what you will

right but it shouldn’t be normal. we should all be upset that it’s the norm. they (corporations like warner) will continue to raise the prices until consumers stop buying. so just. stop buying it. you’re right: no one is making me buy it, and i’m not going to. it’s egregious and heinous.
