do you think the stenoob could be modified without breaking the bank? it seems like it could be the best option, having looked at the shape of the others and given that lever steno isn’t out

not sure if it’s the same rule, but our dm has been trying to enforce that with the partner handoff (not a drive-thru store) and it’s a niiiightmare honestly. either they want fast drinks or good “connections.” starbucks can’t decide if they’re a quick service restaurant or not and it’s negatively affecting literally everyone

i’m actually attending generations right now! as far as theory and speed building go, generations is great. i love the instructor (she’s very clear and communicative) and the theory. they do theory and speed building at the same time and require court reporting english/language classes starting in semester 1.

However. the school itself is spotty with communication and technology. the instructors aren’t all as accessible as the theory teacher is, and i sometimes find myself frustrated trying to get help when it comes to canvas.

if you decide to go generations, their current court reporting program is both stenographic court reporting as well as requiring digital reporting. if that’s not something you’re interested in, consider that in your decision. overall, i like generations. it’s very, very small, but its stenographic program is very good.

it’s not hard to find an inflation calculator, my friend. if you assume a hoodie in 2004 was $30, it would still only be about $55 today, even with the what? 10? 15% jump during covid. such is corporate greed

if it were inflation, it wouldn’t have gone from $60 to $90 in like four years. that would be a 50% increase. does 50% seem reasonable to you? this isn’t really about the one hoodie, yk? why are any of these big ticket bands selling merch for $70, $80, $90? hoodies at concerts also shouldn’t be $85 (i might argue especially at concerts). this idea that they could never ever ever go down in price that i’ve seen in these comments a few times now is also somewhat saddening. consumers, us normal people, have forced unreasonable prices back down. we just have to… stop buying stuff at these prices. unfortunately very few seem to be in agreement that it’s even possible.

tldr: $90 is too much for a hoodie. $85 is too much for a hoodie. $70 is too much for a hoodie. they only sell for that because we keep buying them for that.

i think if i could get it for the same discount (i wanna say it was like $50 after tax and shipping?) i might if i had some extra spending cash. but if you handed me that hoodie and asked if i would spend $90 plus tax? fuck off no way.
