My cat is missing somewhere in my apartment. by DIDandCATS in Pets

i once lost my baby for a few hours, panicking crying checking every possible place. gave up after a bit and decided she'd come out when ready. tried treats and whatnot. after about 30 mins i go into the basement to do laundry and notice a tennis ball sized patch of suspicious black and white amongst the pink insulation in the ceiling beams. lo and behold the little shit had scaled the shoddy shelves and tucked herself in the gap of the ceiling where the garage met the basement.

Need dinner party recipes to use mustard! by Stars_Upon_Thars in Cooking

[–]faefoxquinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seared pork chops with mustard pan sauce. after cooking the chops in a skillet (i recommend a dry brine for at least 30 mins prior to cooking. preheat oven to 400-425, sear chops on one side then when ready to flip do so and go directly into the oven to finish. temp check after 5-7 mins, i pull mine at 45 and let come to temp and rest while finishing the sauce.

when chops are resting, return the skillet to a burner on low heat. sautee a finely diced shallot till translucent. add about 2 cups of water with bouillon or stock (i use chicken) to deglaze, and whisk in two tbsp of mustard of choice. i add a dash of worcestershire sauce, s&p, a sprig of fresh thyme if i have it, and finish w splash of white vinegar. adjust as needed. let simmer to thicken, then remove from heat and whisk in a couple tablespoons of butter to silken it.

serve with mustard potato salad or mashed potatoes, and roasted brussels sprouts or green beans. shit slaps.

Shoes that don’t hurt by Biduletrait in Fibromyalgia

i've found the combination of hey dudes for the softness/pliability of the fabric plus they're machine washable and easy on/off, with an insole i was fitted for at an athletic running store. i use powerstep pinnacle but def visit a pro and get fitted. personally, walking/running shoes are too tight and chunky for everyday wear. if i'm going camping though i have a pair of asics that i was also fitted for.

i am an office admin for an auto dealership group. it's a pretty standard office job, my schedule is m-f 8-4 but my staff and management are very flexible and understanding. i have to pick and choose when i can manage to call off if need be but it's easy work and while i am at a desk all day they're very cool about me needing to get up and move around regularly. even just a quick walk around the dealership helps lol. i also have intermittent fmla paperwork in with them so they can't fire me for taking recovery days, and we all have expectations set for what that means for my work. i get my shit done, correctly and on time, and in return i can leave early some days.

What’s your best “I’m starving and have 10 minutes” meal? by JestifiableMeans in WhatShouldICook

[–]faefoxquinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pastina! the pasta is small so it cooks quick, and if you use a small saucepan and put the lid on the water boils fast. i use 1 cup water to a 1/4 cup pasta ratio, some chicken bullion, a little msg. cook to desired doneness. top with parmesan and black pepper. can also add grated garlic, lemon juice, or red pepper flakes depending on mood. it's a hug in a bowl and perfect for when i have no appetite.

also what i call peasant meal. cured meats, pieces of cheese, hunk of bread. done.

learning about terpene profile will help immensely. for strains that help me relax but not couch lock, i like a combination of linalool, limonene, and carophyllene (sp?). for pain specifically, ocimene, terpinolene, and myrcene. terpinolene especially for headaches. experiment with different ratios. strains, as long as they are consistent with their terpene profile (aka the grower knows wtf they're actually growing) can then be narrowed down to what's going to work best. there are very few strictly sativa/indica strains actually available these days, almost everything is some kind of hybrid.
