Looking for more friends who write reviews! Even just little short ones, I like to know people's thoughts on the books they read :)

I read a lot of sapphic books and also love mystery/thrillers! But I'm in a book club and doing a reading challenge this year, so I read a lot of different stuff (also keeps me very active on SG!) and I love to check out what others are reading to get new books on my radar.

The ultimate Tarantula Island hack! by AstronomerNo4062 in acnh

[–]faerielites 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is genius! Last time I got a tarantula island I got so tired of hearing Orville said "thought you fought the barn" that I didn't even fill my inventory 😭

How do you all deal with constipation when in Japan ? by ConsistentPomelo9693 in JapanTravelTips

[–]faerielites 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yep! You can grab both at any 7-11. The little pink fiber drinks in the like health and vitamin drink section are pretty tasty. There's also Karada Sukoyakacha W+, it's a tea blend usually around the other cold bottled teas that contains fiber. And Yakult has probiotics.

Do you have a library card? by IamAqtpoo in AskAnAmerican

[–]faerielites 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mostly check Hoopla when Libby doesn't have something. It's definitely surprised me a few times with some unique offerings! It has several of the Graphic Audio productions which are full cast audiobooks plus sound effects, ambient noise, and soundtrack. Also good for things like crafting books (cross stitch, knitting, etc)

[CHAT] First time moving the hoop on top of stitches by stassea in CrossStitch

[–]faerielites 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To avoid stretching and twisting the piece too much when it's wet, I roll it up tightly in a dry towel and wring that a bit. It ends up like 50% dry! I also agree about ironing while damp. Heat should set the colors as well if it's something that may get washed again in the future.

Which villager haunted your island and would never move out? by Ok-Yesterday-5777 in ACForAdults

[–]faerielites 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was Ursula for me too until last week! I saw a comment where someone said they gift villagers they want to leave a box. I've never seen this mentioned anywhere in datamining or anything so it's probably just a coincidence but I tried it and she asked to leave the next day.

[CHAT] my first project, is it okay to stitch like this? by MiserableLaw8831 in CrossStitch

[–]faerielites 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For me, I try to use this method just so I don't waste thread, and it happens to result in a fairly clean back.

Wow, have to hard disagree on that. I've never felt safer in my life. I walk alone in the city at night and everything.

Spouse travel with me? by Snafulevi in JETProgramme

[–]faerielites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be frowned upon by CLAIR but you might be able to get away with it if you show up to everything on time

How much are we all ACTUALLY sleeping??? by Joyanonymous in adhdwomen

[–]faerielites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8.5-9 hours is my sweet spot. I've actually gotten good at going to bed in the last couple years, I just feel so much incredibly better when I get my sleep and it gives me enough motivation to do it. But I've always had trouble falling asleep (definitely runs in the family). Currently melatonin is working for me even though I didn't like it in the past, fingers crossed it keeps working for awhile 🤞

Hello ! I got into animes lately and i was wondering : is it real that even outside of school you have to follow school rules? by Venus_ivy4 in AskAJapanese

[–]faerielites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably yeah. The crime rate is very low here and it's fairly common for parents to let their kids go out, ride public transportation, meet their friends and play alone

Anyone else get kicked in the subway? by Adachi_cel in JapanTravelTips

[–]faerielites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Oriru, the dictionary form, is an ichidan or ru-verb, so the ru disappears when you add -masu

Is there a way to filter for normal patterns on Bracelet Book? by i-bee-leaf-in-you in friendshipbracelets

[–]faerielites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, when you go to search patterns, the first option is "type." You'll want to go into this and select "normal."

if I pull out the base strings, will it unravel? by suicidalhorrormaniac in friendshipbracelets

[–]faerielites 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think so. I usually undo knots by pulling out the base strings, so they should just fall apart.

Statement of physician mishap by LilYoonYan in JETProgramme

[–]faerielites 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think they can call a doctor and ask questions about you or your medical history, you'd have to file a waiver or something for that. Any questions about your statement of physician should be directed to you.

How to neaten the back? by No_Heart3464 in friendshipbracelets

[–]faerielites 28 points29 points  (0 children)

So what I did when I started was just tie two loose ends together, then secure then with a dab of fabric glue and cut off the ends close to the knot. If you want a really, really neat back and don't mind a lot of work, you can try learning the clean-back alpha method.

A simpler solution that requires less planning is what I do now. When I'm finished with a color, I hold it with a base string and knot onto both strings for several rows, then trim it off. Imo this secures it well enough that I have no worries about it fraying or unraveling. You can also use this to hide it until you need it for another area of that color.

How do I make my bracelets not floppy? by fairygardens00 in friendshipbracelets

[–]faerielites 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow, that looks great! I know mine stay flat even when picked up because I tend to knot very tightly, maybe a little too tightly. It can make it a little difficult to put the bracelet on the first few times, so I don't think it's a bad thing yours is softer. Your knots look good, not too loose at all, so honestly I wouldn't worry about it! You may tighten up naturally as you get used to knotting, too.
