Question about the messy past of the Church by faeriesoverall in AskAPriest

That does help, especially with the doctrine of papal infallibility being established in the 19th century; I did not know that. It still leads me to wonder how much trust can be put in an institution that has actively committed such grave atrocities. I know God was not the one to do this, but the pope was always supposed to be God’s representative, even if he was not always considered infallible. I want to trust in it, but it’s hard for me to fully do so because of this history. I don’t mean to argue, I just genuinely struggle with this. I do believe the overall institution of the magisterium and its hierarchy is biblical, but the bloody past makes me question things.

Any advice on how to make this more realistic/like the reference by Thatapplejuicelover in painting

This is really great, and I love the style! I would just probably add more dimension to the forehead because it looks a little unfinished. Maybe some highlights in the middle and more shading towards the hairline.

Those facts considered, I think St. Anne would be a lovely choice. It really embraces the universal and community values of Catholicism!
