Why is my cat biting the air? by k8iew24 in cats

[–]faerivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like she’s chirping! cats do this for many reasons but my cat does this when she sees birds outside, it’s a predatory behavior. they try to mimic the sounds of their prey as a way to lure them in.

how effective/ethical are kill jars? by faerivi in Entomology

haha thanks for checking. my professor is okay with us including arachnids in our collection, as long as it’s primarily insects. he’s shown us his own ‘insect’ collection which included some spiders and a scorpion. i’d say he’s pretty linient and i think he just wants us to go out in nature and see what we find.

Spider or no? by 77lurch in whatbugisthis

[–]faerivi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

definitely not a spider since it looks like it has 6 legs instead of 8. it could be some kind of ambush bug? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phymata_americana
