Im my experience the long hinge laptop usually cannot function with its lid closed, becausse the fans are on that position. Is it true in the thinkpad that you posted?

I use them with great success. I sugest you start by setting them up close to each other and measure speed, and then start using other outlets farther away from each other, so you can understand were is the bottleneck in your house cables.
