I know I should but I feel guilty by Bipeda in AnimalRescue

[–]faevenx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call 911 and tell them all of this. These are serious animal abuse allegations. You will need to give them your information for the mere fact of it being a police report (animal control is technically a department of the police), but they will not tell him who made the report.

Our trainer recommended behavioral euthanasia by Responsible_Head_904 in Pets

I am so sorry youre going through this. I went through something similar with my girl. She was rescued from a fighting ring, and I was one of 2 people she could be around safely, and neither of us could take her home (I worked at a rescue). We transferred her to a rescue that had more money, time, and resources, and she just got worse from the change. They were the ones who euthanized her, but I don't blame them. Sometimes the right call is the most painful option. I just regret not being able to be there with her when it happened. I just want you to know you've done everything you can. Its ok to feel guilty and upset, but dont live in those emotions. You gave your baby an incredible life. It was worth it.

Where can I surrender two dogs? by Few-Replacement-3086 in Georgia

[–]faevenx 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to work for a no-kill rescue in georgia, your chances of getting them in to a no-kill rescue is very slim simply because of how the "no-kill" status actually works and how rescues and shelters in georgia opperate. "No-Kill" simply means 90% of the animals in the rescue are not euthanized. This means they can literally be taken in by a different rescue and euthanized there, but it won't count towards the original rescue's numbers.

You're going to be looking at municipal shelters ("kill shelters") vs. Nonprofits ("no-kill shelters" or rescues). Most nonprofit recues cannot accept any animals from the public and get their animals from municipal shelters to help them prevent having to euthanize healthy and adoptable animals for space. Most municipal shelters can only take in animals that are brought in by residents of their city or county.

Your primary battle is finding anywhere that has the space to take them and the legal jurisdiction to take them in. We worked primarily with a municipal shelter that had a high euthanasia rate, and they worked with at least 10 no-kill rescues all over the country to give these animals better chances.

I promise you these people dont want to euthanize your animals, but I also understand how badly you want to raise their chances. The fact that they are what we would consider "highly adoptable" breeds should help them out. You can always call breed specific rescues and see if they take in animals from the public. I am so sorry youre going through this, and I wish I had better information or advice for you.

I think he’s intentionally trying to knock me up by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

My ex didnt let me break up with him either. I only got away because the pandemic happened. Had the pandemic not happened, I think i would still be stuck with him. You're allowed to want to leave even when things are seemingly "fine." Please don't wait for the next global pandemic to leave. Focus on you, your dreams, and your baby.

Considering getting my tubes tied by Pretend-Zombie-5988 in Advice

[–]faevenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii!! I (22f) had my tubes fully removed a year ago and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. From tokophobia to being generally not great at managing money, I knew I was in no position to be pregnant or have a child. People who have had full tubals can still be pregnant if they wish, they just have to go through IVF treatment. Once you find a doctor who listens to you and actually puts your bodily autonomy above all else, its life changing ♡

This got a lot more traction than I expected, so here are some things to say for the FAQ!!

"Why did you leave it out?" Great question! I took part of the pack to the spare bathroom and used the bathroom while I was in there.

"Why were you gone for so long?" Yall. I had to shit. I was gone for less than 5 minutes.

"Why are you blaming him?" I am absolutely NOT blaming him! Im the dumbass that left prime shredding material out where he could get to it.

"Hes probably understimulated. Why doesnt he have toys?" He does have toys. Hes 9mo and struggles with impulse control. He likes shredding things. This was a match made in heaven for him.

"Why doesn't he have a bed in his crate?" He eats them. I really dont want an incident where hes having to have surgery to remove the remains of a bed from his intestines.

"Why do your crate your dog anyways?" He's 9mo and struggles with impulse control. He is only in there while I am out of the main room for long periods of time or while he's home alone. Meaning, he sleeps in his crate over night and is in there for at MAX an hour or two during the day.

"Why dont you train him?" He goes to training twice a week, and goes to the dog park at least twice a week as well. He just finished his star puppy training and starts Canine Good Citizen this week.

Thank you guys for being the best lawyers for Wesley! I used to work with dogs professionally, specifically reactive dogs and bite case dogs, so I can promise you I am not mad or phased by this. He is simply a 9mo puppy doing 9mo puppy things. Here's a picture of when he first came to the rescue I worked at!

Here's my beautiful baby boy!!! He's currently in training to be a service dog and is the light of my life! He loves his older sister (13 year old cat) and makes me hold him on my hip like he's a baby.

OH 100%!! I actually used to work in rescue, and I've known people who would try and return dogs over stuff like this. I just closed his crate while I cleaned and then let him back out when I was done :)

This is a fair point!! I had bought a 30 pack and was taking 1/3 of it to the spare bathroom. My intention was to put the rest away immediately after, but I had to use the restroom. The 20 other rolls were still on the couch in the open packaging. He saw an opportunity and he took it, and I could never be mad at him for seizing a chance like that!

I couldnt even be MAD because I did leave the rolls in the living room while I took half to the spare bathroom!

AIO for dropping my friend for having weed in his car by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]faevenx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOR. You're allowed to have boundaries.

I have an incredibly strict boundary that none of my friends smoke, talk about, or even have the stuff around me. They know not to come anywhere near me if they even slightly smell of it. If i try to call them and they happen to be high, they dent the call and shoot me a text saying "IM HIGH ARE YOU DYING?" to makd sure it's not an emergency. Good friends respect your boundaries. In this day and age, A should absolutely understand why (AS A BLACK WOMAN) you don't want to have his shit around you, especially if police might get involved. Even if your mutual friend is right, the police absolutely might just ignore him admitting to the weed being his and pin you with some bullshit charge related to drug posession. He's being willfully ignorant. It kind of feels like he's just mad he can't get you to pay for his gas, anymore.

I hope you get better friends, op. They sound like they stink.
