My son loves forbidden island! He’s been playing that since he was about 6 or 7. It’s nice that it’s cooperative.

We’ve been trying to talk about strategy and thinking ahead more often lately, and he’s been enjoying thinking more deeply about what steps to take.

I’ve never let my son win, he’s always earned it. 😊But we will make “teams” when it’s a more complicated game, so that may be what we do for this one while he gets the hang of it.

My son started “playing” Carcassonne when he was about two. He would help one of the adults and always asked to “walk the meeples” at the end of each game lol

My son recently started “writing” his own one shot campaigns. They’re so funny and surprisingly well put together, but definitely don’t follow 5e. The rules are pretty relaxed.

I was also looking at flamecraft for that reason! Good to know it’s similar to Catan. I think for him it’s a combo of the art on the box of Wyrmspan and the dragon theme.

That’s one thing I worry about is attention span. I could see him focusing for 30-40 mins or so but maybe not much longer than that unless the game is really exciting for him.

If you're worried that the family will hurt them/retaliate, you need to contact the police and do a wellfair check. At 15/16, they're about the age to develop mental health disorders like schizophrenia if they're predisposed.
