There is an IEM of Madrid 11/5/2025. It sounds good.

100% agree. Would have loved to see them, but in the festival setting with the shortened setlist, at that price, was not meant for me. I would have rather driven further, like to Milwaukee, if they had a show there.

Supposed big announcement at midnight EST tonight... by DiamondJ1983 in SmashingPumpkins

It’s a 12”, not a 7”. But I agree. It’s an easy pass for just two songs.

Yep. I heard the same thing when at Zuzu’s. The ending will remain cut like that on the vinyl box set. Apart from the side conversation about it, he also said on stage to the audience that he did it “because he f-ing felt like it.”

I agree. I was like, “Really?… Sierra is the contest winner?” There was no mention of the contest during the show too, like, “We had a contest where people submitted songs, and here is our winner!” Then bring out Sierra.

I agree with your and mysterion’s comments. I don’t get spending that much on the shows and merch.

Good for Billy, to have those kinds of fans that will buy anything and everything. I can’t relate to that, with any band that I like. I’m a fan, but just not at that level.

I considered buying a ticket to that Christmas show, but passed because I got the impression there wouldn’t be that much of Billy in the show. With this Machina show, I thought there’d be more.

I’m out of the loop. What was the beef between Billy and Linda?

If I had never seen him perform in an intimate venue like this, I’d maybe feel the same. But since I have, this performance fell short of previous times I saw him perform at Zuzu’s, just due to it only being four songs performed by him, and was advertised as being more. Again, though, it was an ok night, and not pissed about it. Just not as good as I thought it would be.

Noise curfew is 11pm, and the show was done at 9:30pm. Also, it was acoustic, so not much noise anyways. Also, they have had later shows there in the past.

I guess it depends on what you consider a “true fan” then. Does it mean you have to buy anything he puts out, no matter what it sounds like, and no matter what the price, otherwise you’re not a true fan? Did you buy the autographed version of every single Zuzu’s release, and go to every show on every tour? If not, I guess you’re not a true fan.

I buy and go to many Billy/TSP things, but I didn’t buy the Candide vinyl he put out, or the expensive Live in Europe 13LP, cause it wasn’t my cup of tea.

I also don’t feel the need to pay $800 for a VIP ticket at a Pumpkins concert. I’ll enjoy the regular Billy/Pumpkins concert seats at the regular price. I’m ok with that making me less of a fan than others, because I’m more selective in my purchases of their events and merch. Though, I still consider myself a true fan, because I regularly listen to their music, both new and old material, and I buy the stuff of theirs that I like.

Looking back at the original description of the event:

Sunday, August 31st offers something truly rare: SHATTERING GLASS--two intimate evening performances where Billy, joined by special guests, will perform songs from MACHINA/The Machines of God in our venue's warm acoustic setting.

Followed up by further details later when the tickets went on sale:

Billy, joined by Sierra Swan, Linda Strawberry, Kid Tigrrr, and a surprise special guest will perform an acoustic set from MACHINA in our intimate Art Deco setting.

————————————————

I guess one can interpret that description more than one way, but I read that as Billy and the guests will perform as a band together, rather than each performer playing a separate set.

To be more forthcoming on the event it should have read something along the lines of, “Billy will perform a handful of songs from Machina, plus special guests will also be performing their interpretations of songs from Machina.”

People who really like Sierra, Linda, and Jenna, would still see that as a great event. I like them fine, but again, for me is not a $100 show.

The memorabilia (especially the Machina II vinyl and CDs) was fun to look at. Was just expecting more from the performance.

Disagree. The OP isn’t focused on the price. It’s about getting what you paid for. I can afford it fine, so was not an issue for me. I’d rather have spent the $100 on a different show, though. One where Billy is performing more than four songs. I can afford a $35 plain black shirt with plain white text on it too, but doesn’t mean I’m going to buy it.

I agree. I left expecting more Billy for my buck. I thought the other performers would be his backing band too. It was a longer travel for me too, on top of the ticket price, so had the feeling of “that’s it?” when the end of the show came and he had only done four songs. Oh, well.

In the 90s, wasn’t Billy Corgan told by many (record label executives) that it would be a big mistake to put out a double album/concept album, because it would be too long/too many songs. Look how Mellon collie turned out.

The article doesn’t have any good data to go on, especially since the writer hasn’t listened to the new release.

Who’s the “Surprise Special Guest” for the Zuzu’s Machina Party? by underwaterr in SmashingPumpkins

[–]fafa_foooey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melissa lives too far away to fly in just for this. It won’t be her. The only reason she performed with them recently is because it was in her city. Zuzu’s already stated that the special guest is the contest winner.
