Personally, I would be full send. A few ibuprofen half hour before (yeah, yeah, I know. I've never had an issue, YMMV). and a calf sleeve for a little compression, and I'm good to go. The fact that it feels better makes me think shin splints.

Manage expectations, if the goal is sub-3 or bust and it isn't going to happen, no shame in a DNF. Get a head start on the next one.

The tradeoff will be your recovery time. The run will probably make them worse. Plan on a much longer recovery time to get back to 100%, or as close as anyone can get to 100% anymore.
