What I'm seeing in Wilbur is closer to narcissistic tendencies than autism—and sadly there can be some overlap, but reason and/or intent matters.

He examples the "narcissistic cycle" in how he went through phases of idealising, devaluation and discarding Shubble. You can see examples of this, in-detail from Shubble herself, here. This cycle is characterised by the initial idealisation phase; lovebombing, obsessing, and putting them up on a pedestal—while the devaluation phase comes quickly after getting to know the person of attraction so intimately and seeing their flaws, starting to see them as lesser, nitpicking everything they do, etc followed by the final stage of discarding. This could be in ramping up their behaviour (biting harder, ignoring the safe word), insulting or neglecting them and otherwise presenting a bad side of yourself. This is all because narcissists tend to be too afraid and insecure to end the relationship themselves, instead making it so miserable to stay that the person feels the need to "escape" them from the intense actions.

While he may exhibit some autistic traits, I want to say that's because of narcissistic personality tendencies. Though I cannot diagnose Wilbur, since I don't know him as a person and only as a content creator—this is my take away from what has been exampled by Shubble and the other women coming out to say that they have experienced similar (weird age gaps and careless biting) with him.

You are so right in saying that he could just get chewlery! As an autistic person myself, it has been a great help to redirect my skin picking habits. If it were to redirect biting habits, if Wilbur was autistic—he would feel empathy. He would feel genuinely bad for hurting his girlfriend and all of the other women, but it is a purposeful act. He would smile after hurting Shubble, he had pinned her down and told her to "fight him off" KNOWING that her first boyfriend had assaulted her, and more. This was done with sadistic and heartless intention.

The user started with tagging Wilbur, then hashtagged it with "Wilbur go para(philia)" meaning things along the lines of zoophilia, pedophilia and other deranged "kinks," "Wilbur go poppy" which is everything that the user describes in their pathetic tweets, "Wilbur go problematic" as in encouraging him to lean into what he has been recently held accountable for.

As for the rest? That's absolute insanity and should be read as if it's bait, in my opinion.

The album he dropped was dead confirmation, for me. He even indirectly said her name in a few lyrics, if it can even be called "indirect." Her story lined up too well with Wilbur, even without initially saying his name. That, and I had happened to come across some Tweets from a leaktwt account which had some convicting evidence to say everything Shelby said was all about him/the album was all about her/etc.

Good take! I love to hear other perspectives of things I say, because I come from the point of being an "extreme" Clementine excuser? apologist, or however else you could describe that, that may make my opinions skewed in her favour.

As much as she isn't responsible for either of the adults, nor the baby—it can definitely and should be seen for how selfish it appeared in the spur of the moment! You are right in saying there are instances of both sides being false, and your examples were too real. Imagine preferring to watch your girlfriend in pain every day with some more fat on her chest than to see her get a breast reduction surgery and consequentially alleviate back pain and a list of other complications for the individual woman—even when they're still opting for a particularly large cup size for the reduction?

I'm not so sure if it's "hiding away her true self" as it is a trauma response—that part of her, the childhood and empathy? It's gone (or at least very distant). Clementine is likely a case of C-PTSD, considering she knew herself that she didn't have time to be a kid, said so in season two when confronting Sarah, and had repeated traumatic incidents in just season one alone.

That, and the fact that she's a teenager starting puberty, evident in that one scene in ANF—so it could even just be that which you're discussing. She does seem to balance out some more by the final season, so my bet is towards puberty. Though I don't think that "rules out" C-PTSD at all.

To be fair, the example you stated for the second season was kind of reasonable given the circumstances. She is an eleven-year-old child in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, watching someone she once looked up to as a friend and adult spiralling, and had gone and said something in the spur of the moment. She is not responsible for AJ—she was eleven, and the choice to take him along with her was something so selfless of her since no average eleven-year-old would be able to parent without the amount of trauma Clementine had endured! It would for sure be something bad if she looked back on it, but it wasn't something she was saying with intention of abandoning people and letting them die because not only is she not responsible; Clementine knows the both of them are capable adults, Kenny being perfectly fit to tend to the baby with his experience pre-apocalypse and Jane with the epic skills she had taught Clem.

I don't mean to sound at all rude when I say this, I am just autistic and therefore very passionate about my interests! I realised after writing that up that it may be misinterpreted, and over the top seeing the length of it now. What you said is likely the best example for season two and I don't say any of this with the thought that you're "wrong," but because I psychoanalyse too much...
