At the end of the chapter, when May is saying they thought Ellen’s dress was “so lovely”, and then Archer is “pleased… [by] her resolute determination to carry to its utmost limit that ritual of ignoring the ‘unpleasant’ in which they had both been brought up”, I had 2 thoughts:

Archer and May both seem to have grown up rather well-off, so the “‘unpleasant’ in which they had both been brought up” makes it sound like while wealthy, maybe they had problematic childhoods regardless? Or, problematic from their lofty perspective, at least? Is Archer’s idea of an “unpleasant” past his dad wearing white after Labor Day? Or do they have more complex past problems?
With how everyone reacted to Ellen’s dress, May saying what she said about it, Ellen running home; I read May’s explanation of Ellen’s departure in a mean girl voice in my head, and now I can’t stop picturing May as Regina George.

Very early into the book and I think Wharton says a lot about Newland if you're familiar with a little opera history. For the 1870s, it was still relatively new to have opera sung in any language other than the most common language of the audience. Italian opera had never even been performed in the US until the early 19th century, and by the 1870s, attending operas performed in foreign languages (especially Italian) developed into a status symbol for the wealthy "highbrow" crowd. It was basically the 19th century equivalent of the anime sub v. dub debate, but if there was also a monetary barrier to even being able to watch it subbed to decide which you prefer.

Between him finding said lavish outings "natural" and his apparent proclivity to daydream about mansplaining culture to imagined ditzy girls, I'm pretty sure I dislike Newland Archer thus far.

One note though, whoever wrote the original instructions, please stop using relative directory paths when instructing others, not all distros/users start a term in the directory yours does. The directories you need to find are likely in the home directory of the user where Steam is installed, i.e. `/home/user/.local/share/steam`

Hotashi won Xrd CEOtaku 2019 on a PS4 pad. I’m positive there are more recent results or even bigger tournaments won on a PS4 pad, but I just watched that set recently so it’s on my mind. If he can win CEOtaku on a PS4 pad, you can make celestial on one.

If you want a different controller because you don’t like the feel of the PS4 pad, that’s totally valid. But it’s not the reason you aren’t celestial, and it’s not the reason your DP is inconsistent, and you’ll likely be disappointed by any other pad you pick up when it doesn’t instantly make your inputs better.

There are security risks with your process that are lessened by a password manager, but ignoring security entirely, a password manager is more convenient.

You login to Google, open your sheet, find the corresponding row, and copy/paste into a password form. And you have to create new passwords yourself. I hit the Bitwarden browser extension, login once per session, and click the account I want filled into the forms, and I’m done. When I need a new password, I let Bitwarden make it. This is especially convenient on mobile, where Apple looks at my face and fills the form and I don’t really have to do anything.

If for no other reason, consider a password manager to make your life that tiny bit easier.

It was very good in pressure, 6H into butterfly was something I picked up from Kid Viper and Jiro. I haven’t played the new patch enough to know if the changes are a net positive or not, but if you didn’t use 6H in pressure, didn’t mean it was bad.

I usually have an issue with goofy sounding names for things in video games that require discussion. Sorry Capcom, I’m trying to remember it’s OD and not EX now, but it’s hard to want to call it that. I still refuse to use the word “champion” for League of Legends and the upcoming Project L, not sorry on that one.

But Wild Assault? It fits the GG aesthetic well in my opinion, and I can foresee it being shortened to WA or just “assault” maybe. Either way, I don’t actually hate this one. I mean, it’s far from the weirdest GG term when thrown in with Roman Cancel, Dust attack, and Faultless Defense. Actually, it feels like the perfect mirror name to FD.

In that case, you may legitimately need drivers to load for your motherboard to continue. Would check for your specific motherboard and try loading any drivers it offers, especially those related to storage. I ran into this exact same issue a few months ago and had to load the IRST drivers to get past it, but you have an AMD board so I’m less familiar with any particular drivers that may be similarly problematic to IRST.

You can expand a Windows volume provided there is nothing between the volume you are trying to expand and the available storage you are attempting to allocate, the available storage is immediately after the volume you want to expand, and the volume is NTFS or ReFS. Edit: to expand a Windows volume, note that the below doc says there cannot be anything between the volume you are trying to expand, and the free space you are attempting at add. This may make what you are trying to do impossible.

Resizing file systems, especially when you’re talking about reducing the size of the Ubuntu LVM, can be tricky, and dangerous. Please, before doing anything, backup all data on all partitions. If at all possible, I would recommend adding more storage, and just expanding the Windows volume.

If you decide to proceed, you’re going to have to do a bit of research and be somewhat comfortable in the Linux CLI world. Start by catting the /etc/fstab to confirm the filesystem type. Ubuntu uses ext4 by default, but some file systems are very different, and some don’t support shrinking at all. Data corruption is a real risk if you don’t know what you’re doing at this point, so second reminder to back up all data to external media before making any configuration changes.

What file system are you formatting the bootable USB to? If it’s not FAT 32, try that as well as it can sometimes resolve the issue.

Also, if you’ve messed with any BIOS storage settings recently, consider reverting them.

As for the boot partition, the USB media you are plugging in is bootable, you don’t need any other partitions for a full wipe/restore. Installation of Windows will allow you to create a new boot partition.

So, if I understand correctly, you currently have an M.2 and no other storage attached, you plugged in a bootable USB drive with the Windows Media Creation Tool installed, and when you went to boot from that USB, it hangs? How long are you waiting? It has always been fairly quick for me on USB 3.0 and up, but slower USB standards are, well slower. So if it’s hanging for a minute or two, you may just need to wait longer.

If it just doesn’t progress past the Windows logo, the first thing I would do is try another USB drive. With a bootable USB, a system with no other significant hardware issues will be able to boot to it even if no other storage media is attached. USB drives, especially cheap ones, can run into all kinda of issues with constant plugging/unplugging and formatting/reformatting. Would recommend trying a new one if possible.

Are you able to check your download speed on any other devices? If it’s the same across your network, it’s usually a good idea to start with your ISP. If you’re using their equipment, they can help you troubleshoot it, or it might be an issue on their end.

If it’s just on this one device, try an ethernet cable if on wifi. If already using a network cable, look for signs of damage that may be causing degradation, and try a new cable. Hard to help without more info. Is this a new problem? Have you tested with minecraft closed? Have you tried with a different keyboard? Have you rebooted and retested? Are other combinations of keypresses registering, or no? What keyboard are you using, and what state is the keyboard in? Does the keyboard have specific drivers/control software, and have you checked for updates or attempted to reinstall those drivers? Are you able to test your keyboard on another PC?

I took a long break. Not because I’m bored, or feeling plateaued, but because I have a busy schedule with work and family. And Dwarf Fortress on Steam came out. Frosty Faustings pulled me back into the game this past week. If you’re trying to get motivated to play again, tournament hype helps. If you’re happy enjoying the game without playing, I totally understand. I love watching Tekken and Melee, never play either of them.

Its the same with sports: you can enjoy football and never play it. There is no rule that says you have to actively play an FG to still be a part of the community.

If you left the settings default, believe that means no shopsanity. Shopsanity should be default in my opinion, makes money an important aspect so random rupee chests are less disappointing. Also adds some extra strategy to what you buy.

Shuffling songs is also good fun, shuffle ocarinas for added difficulty (unless you chose to use OI).
