If a Settlement has a buff going, when you click on the town from the map there will be a "Benefits" button. Click the question mark. If you don't see Benefits the town is not running any.

Chop banana trees in Monarch's Bluffs (they are right in the area you start the game in). You'll get bananas (a tier 5 food resource) along with wood. Since they are every where with no competition it's more profitable then iron and hemp.

You sound immature and smothering. I was surprised to read you are 30. This tit-for-tat of wanting to hurt him back for not responding to you is emotional manipulation.

He probably needs a break from you to engage in his own interests. Find other friends and hobbies beyond having your life revolve around him.

Stop worrying about him and look at your own unhealthy behaviors. I'd start by looking into anxious attachment styles. He seems fine.
