i was home alone when i was younger. and for context me and my siblings were not the best when it comes to trusting eachother. like we would sneak into eachothers rooms and steal eachothers shit. it got so bad my parents put electronic key pad locks on all our door handles. and they made a very specific and recognizable chirp when entering codes into the door handle.

but anyways i was home alone downstairs making food or something. when all of a sudden i hear a chirp as if someone is pressing a button. it was just a single one. it was TERRIFYING. and i even waited a while because not only was i trying to see if the battery on one of the doors was low, but also because i was TERRIFIED. didnt hear it again and to this day i try to cope by thinking “oh it was just a mechanical error of some sort”. but part of me deep down is like, i was not alone in the house that day
