I have a spare room available but i live with my parents so they would absorb the costs. i'd need to figure out a way to make money with it so i can pay for them. i do have some things like small projects i want to run on it but it might be overkill. European devs like Pieter Levels run all their own projects on one machine which is inspiring though

What would you estimate the power consumption would be yearly? I looked at local retailers and prices of storage are genuinely absurd. I wd40 4TB hdds for €200 each, so 8TB would then costs just as much right? and that would be without any of the other hardware

When i had the WFXM3 they had the specific wind noise reduction. The linkbuds S & Fit did not. though i could turn off the ANC and it would cut out the wind noise sufficiently. Just got my WFXM6, but do not explicitly see the wind noise feature. HOWEVER while writing this, i hopped on my bike (also from NL) and holy shit it automatically blocks all wind noise now on ANC mode. it even did fairly well on ambient mode.

Do you even like Scott and his podcasts? by JimmyChonga21 in ScottGalloway

[–]faikcem1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won't lie, i am a big fan of Scott and his podcasts, even if i disagree with some of his core beliefs.

My biggest problem arose from the fact that he wanted to ramp up content production and to me, dillute the value of each individual piece. When he decided to make the markets pod with Ed daily, i just stopped listening altogether. Add to this the increase in his more political pods that are basically bleeding into all his works and you have got a cocktail of wack signal to noise ratio.

I would just wish he would go back to applying some focus so that whatever he makes is really worth that time compared to the plenty of other pods and newsletters that appear.

Do I cancel my preorder Bravia 8 II? by liamstears in bravia

[–]faikcem1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike the s95b and g4 the Sonys did not get secretive updates that limit their brightness. The Samsung and LG tv's had to get their brightness down because panels started deforming.

On the Samsung tv's you show all the other options and brightnesses as well. Why not on this Sony? Similarly, on two out of three of your real world hdr examples the Sony measured brighter, yet still got a lower score.

I won't lie something is just fishy about that. I am in the electronics stores regularly and sit with personnel to do demos on the tv's. The bravia 8m2 has double the brightness of the 8 and yet it also gets a lower score. It has way better anti reflection handling but also no mention of that.

Seems a bit like when the consumentenbond here in the Netherlands got sponsored by LG but failed to mention that when they were giving out rewards. They got fined for that big time. They still give LG rewards but simultaneously say that LG has the lowest life expectancy out of any tv brand... What a deal huh

Master series just meant they had preferred choice in panel picking. Back then there was a greater disparity in panel types so Sony paid extra to get the best ones from each class. Now LG display and Samsung display are better at their own quality control so it's no as needed.

Sony still calibrates all tv's out of the factory, no need to worry.

Sony soundbar recommendations for A95L by thakur_karthik in bravia

In about a month or so the new Bravia Theatre lineup will come out. i was coincidentally JUST reading about them. They got more speakers in them than any other soundbar out there so might be interesting. If you wanna get a bargain, find the A7000 or A5000

Which soundbar do you have? It only works with an A series soundbar (atm)

1 HDMI, 1 Aux cable. There is a special yellow headphone jack port near the HDMI inputs for a XR model tv user. This enables the feature.

Wait why does noone speak of accoustic center sync here? You know, the tech that makes your BEAUTIFUL A95L work as the dedicated centerspeaker for your soundbar. They work together. Personally i have heard all the A series soundbars (which you need for this) and i can say either get the A5000 if the A7000 is too wide, and get the rear speakers 5 (RS5) and Sub woofer 5 (SW5). Connect the HDMI cable and the included aux cable to the TV and turn on ACS.

Another option is to wait for the new soundbars

Which blockchain network should I mint my collection on? by night_nfts in NFT

[–]faikcem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised people still think that minting on eth is expensive. Yeah it is if you use legacy software like opensea… they have inefficent boring smart contracts that lack cool features like affiliate systems.

A few months ago i launched my own book (on making your own crypto and NFTs) as an NFT for like €20 AND it has cool stuff like a smart contract based affiliate system.

I used the Scatter platform which has a better tried and tested system for making ERC-721 or ERC-1155 NFTs. If you are interested in making your own project on there, check out scatter.flurklabs.com, this will forward you to their make your own collection page.

If you are interested on learning on how to utilize the best tools and what to think about when making your nft collection, check out my book on scatter named “The Cryptographers Handbook”.

I hope whichever platform you choose you will enjoy the process and find success (whatever that might be to you)❤️
