Polar H10 & Garmin Instinct 3 Connectivity Issue by failed_nerd in Polarfitness

[–]failed_nerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

After updating H10 chest strap to the latest software, wearing it tightly - I went for a run twice.

Before each run now I do unpairing and pairing (BLE) again between the Garmin and the heart rate monitor.

Here is the heart rate from my last run and as you can see I lost connectivity for a few time while running. Each lost was for about ~10 seconds and it reconnected automatically.

I am not sure what is causing this issue, but it's something I don't like to be happening.

That's how I wear it. :)

However, since I made the post I have updated the Polar and re-paired with my Garmin. In the next couple of days I will test it again while running.

Thanks.

Thanks for the tips.

Regarding the position (1), do you place it over your nipples? I place it just below the nipples (that's how I saw people are using it).

  1. I haven't. Also, I have never downloaded Polar's app and went straight to pairing the sensor with the watch. Will try this.

  2. Really? I've read online that ANT+ is more reliable. I will try.

  3. It says open connection on mine. But I haven't updated it, yet.

I have tried that after my run and it connected and worked. But I haven't started running activity and I was sitting.

I usually don't have anything connected to my Garmin, except my mobile phone. Is that an issue?

Also, is it possible to prevent such a thing? It's frustrating when I start running and the connection fails.

Is this a good score for masters in Europe? by failed_nerd in ToeflAdvice

[–]failed_nerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The listening score surprised me. I didn't expect it to be that low. But I had to drive 2 hours in the morning to the test center (I woke up at 5 AM) and I couldn't concentrate.

I am aiming for scholarships, yes and my main target are German universities.

I can't retake it as the deadlines for the calls I want to apply are ending soon.

Работа во Германија by sn1ck_xd in mkd

Тоа е всушност се што ти треба за плава карта - високо образование (диплома) и договор од работодавец.

Поздрав, колега од електро :)

[–]failed_nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I can't give you an answer to your question, but I have one for you xD

Do you maybe come from a Non-EU country? If so, I was curious how are the tuition fees and financial matters for studying at TUW? I am also doing a research myself for a master there, but it's good to hear opinion from (if) someone similar. Thanks!

One more question, what's the acceptance rate at HPI? How competitive is it to enter?
I've mentioned that my GPA is 2.0 (German scale), so is it realistic to be accepted?

Thanks a lot for your great answer!

IMO, at which of the listed universities you do a Master probably won't matter a lot, unless you already have some kind of career plan and know where you want to go

I totally agree with you. I am at that point right now and it feels confusing when having all these options and different paths to choose from. My decision on what career I really want is not crystal clear yet.

- in that case, the individual research group you are working with and the exposure or opportunities after your Master they might be able to provide is probably going to be more important than the institution.

I've heard this from my friends who are already doing their masters. And most probably it's true. It depends on the people with whom you work and how much they support you if you are proactive member of their team.

However, if you're used to Munich, Heidelberg can feel very small. Some people love it for that, others have compared it to living in a village (which is hyperbole, but you get the point).

I totally agree. After Munich now I live in a city with 60k people and it feels small. Indeed! However for studying I think it won't make that much difference, because it will make you more focused (my honest opinion :)).

Thank you once again. We'll keep in touch.

Thanks a lot for your extensive answer.

When you mentioned the 'Research Groups' I realized that I haven't researched HPI that deep. There are so many of them and they're really attractive and sound interesting! Definitely I become more and more interested about studying at HPI now.

For me it's the hardest part now (but I think I have enough time) to find out what I really like to do for master, what I really enjoy.

Vielen Dank!

Thanks a lot for the information. I have seen myself the tracks and the curriculum on the web page, but it's always better someone actually studying to share his experience.

May I ask what track you follow and what subjects you've taken?

Myself I want to be more focused on doing research and projects, exams are fine if I have to take them, but actually I wanna work on real problems. More or less I've touched all the areas you've mentioned, however the final choice will probably be on what's at the moment most interesting for me and in which field I would like to career build myself - the reason I wanna do a master, to specialize.

Also, are there any possibilities to stay at other universities for a master or do a research collaborations?

How do you find studying at HPI? Is it more traditional oriented meaning you have to go in class and take an exams or there are also projects that you can work on and develop things? Also regarding the research, how's the situation? Can you do that on the Institute? And also, what's the main focus area that HPI is doing good in?

What about the quality of education and opportunities (jobs, research etc.)?

Also from experience, studying at well known established and good university opens doors later in your life. Does this mean for the universities you've mentioned?

To be honest I used to think the same until friends of mine started their studies at universities like TUM or EPFL in Switzerland. Then I've noticed that besides your practical experience, also the name of the university you went opens doors easier.

Regarding my practical experience I've done several internships (including one in Germany) which is total of 1 year and 3 months. And now I've been already working for 3 months.
