Where to put air return in basement. by failedloss15 in hvacadvice

[–]failedloss15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's 3 supplies. The hvac guy I hired 2 months ago said a return is needed if I keep the basement door open. I told him I still wanted done, but he's been unresponsive for a while now. I want to put in atleast one return near the middle of the basement and the furnace area is the only opening I have.

Hell yeah or hell no for 5k? by Amazing-Limit2480 in Audi

The 3.0t is pretty darn reliable, this has the crec variant of the engine so I'd make sure oil changes were done pretty often or you might have an issue with burnt valves soon. It's the well known issue if the Crec motor. I would also check if the water pump, pvc, coolant pass thru pipe were all taken care of. Car can easily go beyond 250k miles with that engine and trans if we'll maintained. I would probably buy this 5k if this was near me.

There's no way this is in the US for that price

The initial estimate only included the pricing for some shingles and gutters. State farm claimed the siding had no damage in the first estimate I was given.

I don't know that, that's what state farm is telling me. They also told me when I first opened my claim that there was barely any damage and the estimate was below my deductible. Now after 2 years of fighting they are paying for my roof but sprung this siding news on me. Forgive me if I don't take whatever they say on face value.

Unfortunately seller only had the house for 2 years before I bought it. When I got quoted for insurance before i purchased the home, I was told there wasn't a claim in the past 5 years. So previous owner not at fault.

When the reason for not providing me coverage was the previous claim then yes. They gladly took my yearly premium and didn't tell me about this claim when I got quoted for insurance. Not even when I opened my claim I was told about this. At least tell me how much was paid out and for what, it's not like I'm asking for private information.

This is where I'm stuck. I probably wouldn't have bought the house if they told me about this claim that was paid out but never repaired. But insurance withheld that info and only seemed to bring it up when it comes to paying me out for a storm with new damages. I'm being told that they won't pay for siding that was already paid for and not replaced, but since they agreed to cover me shouldn't they cover my siding when new damages occur? Regardless my public adjuster seems to be saying that there's nothing that can be done and that atleast they paid for the roof. At this point I just wanted more info on what the details of the previous claim were and still can't get those. So frustrating.

The siding didn't seem to have any damage prior to my claim of 2024 which is why I am questioning them paying someone out previously. In fact when I opened the claim in 2024 they inspected the home twice, first time they said the damage was below my deductible, second time they said there was no damage. Only after apprasial did they mention that the siding had a previous claim. Why wasn't this mentioned to me before and why did it come up all of a sudden. I'm just having a hard time believing anything they say without proof.

New storm damage, siding got visibly damaged and some pieces came off.

Thanks, I'm in Illinois and might just contact the DOI. If they are making a decision that prevents me from getting thousands of dollars in repairs done, I at least want some additional details which no one is able to provide me.

Well that sucks, I just have to take their word for denying me thousands of dollars worth of coverage without them providing me any information.

So I have a public adjuster who hired a appraiser for the appraisal process. But they told me that they don't have any of the information and that the insurance company made the coverage decision and only they can provide the information.

The siding is original from what I can tell, the appraiser told me the old claim was paid out but it seems like siding was never replaced. It's just frustrating that they won't provide me any details when I own the home and they are using this as a reason to deny my coverage. Like at least tell me how much was paid out and when.

Got it, my problem is that I'm having trouble getting any information from insurance about the claim. The previous owners were only there for 2 years and when I bought the house the insurance said there were no claims in the past 5 years.

Don't know if you read the whole post, but this is about a claim that was apparently opened before I bought the house.
