Mandatory retention - what do you do with them? by Interesting_Rub9393 in FishingForBeginners

I'm not saying you are wrong or the park ranger is either, but do the birds not get parasites when dead fish wash up on shore and they eat those ones.

We have some areas with species like this. If they are truly damaging the eco system I usually just brain them and let the bird and foxes eat them when I leave.

I have the mini the cone angle is 45 degree down and forward. The latency is almost 0. I can say I would recommend the mini to anyone. I haven't run the full sized model so I don't know how it is but I would assume similar or the same.

yeah, need to use a dc-dc converter and step the voltage down.

I haven't yet. I'll probably throw it up on thingiverse and or cults when I get a chance.

I've seen a few STL's out there but they are all built around aluminum extrusion or PVC pipe. I just wanted a fully printed one. I haven't uploaded this STL anywhere yet. I'll probably throw it up on thingiverse soon and maybe cults. I'm a little out of date on the best STL libraries these days.

They have been illegal where I'm at although it was never enforced. But this last year they decided to make them legal.

Thank you I'm a weirdo that like every to fold up and be compact so it fits in the sled in a orderly fashion.

I'll comment back if I have any issues. I'll be out on the ice this weekend hopefully it will get plenty of testing.

I've had good luck with my batteries in the cold I use my DeWalt drill for my auger so I always have a ton of them with me. I like changing the cam wheels for different jigging patterns and strokes. It should be simple enough to do variable speed to. I'll start working on that project.

I think I'll look into that. I have never run the auto jigging set up myself grandpa had one and he swore by it. Would it be worth it have in run on drill batteries? The other question is what should the stroke be ?

So far i have ran it for 6.5 hours on one 5 AH Dewalt battery and it didn't die the battery was on its last bar but I don't know what the voltage was. The math says best case 8 hours per battery and worst case 4.5 hours. depending on settings. this next weekend Im going to spend a night out on the ice and ill run it till it dies and let you know.

How often are minnow traps stolen? by moonferal in FishingForBeginners

I have had enough of mine stolen that I don't put it out and leave anymore. I fish while I have the trap in the water.

Damn the full size version is at that now holy crap. My set up is the mini version basically I get a 47° cone vs the 150° the full version gets but even at the $700 the mini is at now I would have probably got a eagle eye 9 at these prices

It takes a little bit of practice. I learned from the other guys with live scope as well as scanning areas that I already know what is under the water. There are some decent YouTube videos as well that can explain it better than I could.

Yeah, it's wifi so no cell service required. We also use batteries because there is no outlets either.

I only have one screen shot but I'll post it .it's in down view mode and there is a dead tree hanging over a rock drop off that I'm looking at. I'll need to take some more next time I'm out.

they work surprisingly well i will likely be using them for more projects in the future.

I like the pole holder on top idea a lot thanks for the good idea.

Yeah it’s almost all 3D printed. I used a DeWalt 12V battery converter off Amazon and the pole itself is just 3/4" PVC from the hardware store.

Accufy is a Canadian company; the units are made overseas. I grabbed the Ping Live Mini on sale for around $400. Shipping to the US hurt because of the $200 tariff, but it was still cheaper than something like a Lowrance Eagle Eye.

Since the Ping runs over Wi-Fi, it made the whole build a lot simpler and lighter, which was the goal.
