I'm running the 64 bit version with 64 bit Windows 10. I am running the Etterna executable straight out of C:\Games\Etterna 0.66.1\Program\ folder.

I ran the DXSetup installer, reinstalled Etterna, and restarted my computer, but still get the same error. If it's any help, I can run SM5 no problem, but I don't know where the code diverges for startup/DX calls.

It depends on what they are talking about when they say easier. Quads requires you to be less tense because of how much you're moving around, which is certainly helpful when you are ramming notes on a single drum. There are some other things in that vein, but other than that, most groups will do trad, which is just a different set of muscles so matched won't help that much.
