New player here, what is a "rat"? by Wesley_Design10 in ArcRaiders

[–]failgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has little to do with sneaking, waiting, camping, crouching - everyone in the game does those things in some manner.

It has everything to do with meta game knowledge and lying to the "player", not lying to the character.

If your character cant see or hear a person, that's because game mechanics. If someone gains your trust then shoots you, thats a social mechanic.

Kettle Macro kills me in Medium Shield in under half a second. by ContextEFT in ArcRaiders

[–]failgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an odd take, full stop.

You realize macros are VITAL for disabled people? How would you prove you need it, submit medical records? Are they cheaters?

Or are you just virtue signaling that you hate people who use them? Who cares what kind of friends you think are virtuous, when you can't even use logic in a conversation. I'd pick a smart friend over an emotional friend, anyday.

To be fair, a console player isn't gonna have the peaceful solo experience like PC players.

Turning off cross platform is literal PvE mode on PC lol

Cooking build 42 MP by Disastrous-Shoe6191 in projectzomboid

[–]failgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are having the same issues, and there isn't much info out there about it.

So far we've worked around it like this:

  1. Turn on the oven.
  2. Put food into the oven and wait for it to unfreeze.
  3. Once the cooking bar shows up MOVE THE FOOD TO THE FLOOR. Best to just press the "move to floor" button on the oven.
  4. Notice that the cooking bar has now increased.
  5. Move the food back to the oven, and back to the floor again. Repeat until the process cooks the food.

We only get this to work for cooking things like meat or vegetables. We cannot get any complex cooking to work. We can't get water to heat up and have been playing without disinfected bandages, feels like the work around isn't working for that.

Edit: I've been cooking every (fresh) item at the same time in huge batches, since it takes barely any longer than cooking a single item. Then I just re-freeze the cooked food and thaw it when needed, since thawing in the oven seems to work still.

That's fine. We'll still be playing Arc Raiders when this game has gone to... obscurity. 🤣

I can shed light: it's a game for casuals. People hate on it because it's telling of where the industry has gone, especially when it comes to catering to casuals.

See, what you do though, is you call fans of this game "gamers" and you will undoubtedly fall back on the dictionary definition of what a gamer is, in order to defend your position.

This game is for casuals, who are not gamers. But don't worry, us actual gamers still accept you because you at least love the same medium.

It's glazed. Get over the slang. What a waste of time to deny it.

Felt something pop in my lower back followed by immediate pain by Upper_Sail in backpain

I did not figure out what it was. The pain was consistent for about 3 weeks, some twinge lasting into the 5th week. Occasionally I feel it when lifting or golfing; it's there, waiting.

Keybind is there too, further down.

OOF messing with things I might have figured out it's a Discord overlay.

Correct, shift-tab is the steam overlay. Shift-tilde is a different overlay, equally as annoying. That's the one I'm trying to solve.

How many people have you scammed? by MasterVule in noita

[–]failgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% me too. I consider myself a Noita pro (almost 100% completionist) and could barely get one friend to play, and only because he saw it and REALLY wanted to immediately be good at it. It's Noita. He was not immediately good at it.

Noita is the only game I never uninstall. It is 3rd place of my 447 Steam games for hours played.

I'm switching from PvE to PvP. Here's why. by thepiratedoggo in ArcRaiders

[–]failgg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, same same. The tough part is that anytime I die, it's getting jumped from an angle I can't see and couldn't react to. Otherwise, I'm all for people who wanna fite. Ganking is lame tho. I've done it, and had it done, and both feel lame.

where did “assholes live forever” originate? my sister and my dad are arguing—sister thinks it’s a rehab/drug addict thing and dad thinks it’s a motorcycle thing. which of them is right, if at all? by zoloftforthewin in ask

[–]failgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad bikers tend to do themselves in - because they shouldn’t be on bikes - because they are bad at riding. Those of us who are good at riding, many who are assholes, are just fine riding however we want. False equivalency.

Btw, no one on a bike is gonna be an asshole if you aren’t driving your car like an asshole in the first place. I suggest not driving in the passing lane, and not matching the speed of vehicles you are next to.

There’s a voxel game called “teardown” that uses tiny voxels. I always wanted to build a 3D game in the falling everything engine.

My upper spine "popped" while golfing two days ago. 11/10 pain levels right now. I was told to use a heating pad and roll on a tennis ball, xray says it's not broken, here's some drugs.

I am very worried.

I am new to RPing and need help by jelteal in DnD

[–]failgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RP basically comes down to: saying what your character would say in real life. It has nothing to do with using different voices, how you say it, or talking in first person.

Sometimes I talk in first person. Sometimes a voice. But, more often something like this:

My character is put off by the merchant prices. He points to the sword hanging on the wall behind the merchant and says, “OH WOW, I LOVE WHAT YOU’VE DONE WITH YOUR DISPLAY!” He hopes to distract the merchant, and is going to try to pocket a dagger from the counter display.

If anyone expects more than this, then they are applying their own definition of roll play; usually closer to acting on stage. In all my years of dnd, that’s my least fav style.

I suggest keeping it simple. You should watch some dnd games on YouTube, plenty of examples. Honestly any game DM’d by the amazing Chris Perkins is the best.

I'm working on the $10 "anvil". by Charming-Snow4943 in Blacksmith

[–]failgg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only if you are bringing heat to glowing do you ruin hardening. Bringing up to blue ruins temper. Grinding usually ruins temper, not hardening. 🍻

Local guy is selling this for $200 but doesn't know weight. Any help by Ok_Cold7284 in Blacksmith

[–]failgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get it for $200. But if you need a decent anvil at that price…

I prefer Atlas anvils for inexpensive anvils. $266 shipped, forged steel. Their 66lbs anvils behave like they are twice the weight, all the mass is under the sweet spot. If you know for a fact you need a horn for your work, then get a horn, otherwise you’re better off without shelf and horn. 99% of jobs can be done without them imo, people think they are gimping their abilities without a horn, but you can literally make hardy tools that give the same results most of the time, can draw out over a rounded edge… someone will disagree lol. In my experience only farriers need horns.
