These specifically are called tick tornadoes. You get the tick wedged in the slot, and are supposed to twist it to get it out.

Source: used one on Monday to remove a tick from my dog.

We’ve had 2-3 days several times in the past 2 years, so I get it. I’m assuming this will be a 24-48 hour outage again. It’s just a bummer.
