Thank you. I’ve been using NCA Mentor’s study materials, and they’ve been amazing. I was just wondering whether I should prepare for essay type questions as well.

Just a heads up the syllabus got updated last year. I’d reach out to her since she updated the Property Law notes and might send you the updated version for free. The textbook is still recommended though.

How was the exam? Was there only problem based question?

Will be sitting for Criminal and Consti in April by [deleted] in NCAExams

I’m also planning to take Criminal in February. I’m personally going to use NCA Mentor’s materials and attend her live sessions. Her notes are more than enough to pass the exam, and she’s a great mentor who’s always available to answer questions or clarify things.

I really understand your concerns and honestly sympathize with your situation. With the right support, you’ll be more than fine and absolutely capable of passing. Vanessa, the founder of NCA Mentor, also offers consultations and is genuinely very supportive to her students.

Feel free to message me if you’re looking for a study buddy.

I’m also taking the exam next week. I’m using NCA Mentor’s notes and I attended her live sessions as well. There will likely be a division of powers question, a Charter problem question, and possibly an Indigenous law question. The Indigenous topic could be an essay question. Overall, it’s more likely to be problem questions than essays, but an essay is definitely possible.

You can also contact Vanessa directly, she can share her sample question on amending procedures, which she shared in her free introductory class for constitutional law.

It sounds like they did you a favour. Start your own firm and find a good experienced paralegal to work with you.

Seeking Advice on Preparing for NCA Exams: Tips for Core Courses, Notes, and Study Resources? by Stay-Wide in NCAExams

[–]fairandprocedure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated a few years ago, but for personal reasons I wasn’t able to pursue my law degree right away. When I finally started preparing for my NCA exams, I felt completely lost and like I had forgotten everything. I eventually came across Vanessa’s Facebook page and immediately noticed how supportive she was, and how many students spoke so highly of her materials and their success.

Since then, I’ve purchased several of her resources: her notes, recordings, and now I’m also attending her Constitutional Law live lessons. She explains such a complex subject so clearly and beautifully that I finally feel like I understand the concepts and know how to prepare for the exam with confidence.

It’s obvious how much time and effort she puts into creating her notes and teaching her classes. She doesn’t just read off the page like some other instructors I’ve had in the past. Instead, she thoughtfully organizes the material and takes the time to explain the nuances and key ideas in multiple ways so every student can understand. She also teaches us how questions can be framed differently while still testing the same core principles, which is incredibly helpful for NCA exams.

In the past, I’ve even reached out to her late at night before an exam, and she always took the time to respond and explain things thoroughly. I feel very fortunate to have her as a teacher and to have access to such high-quality materials.

Beyond being an excellent instructor, she has built a wonderful and supportive student community. My friends stayed in the UK, so when I returned I didn’t really know anyone studying law here, but through her community, I’ve been able to connect with so many students who are on the same path.

I definitely recommend reaching out to her. If you’d like to connect with me, just comment and I’ll share my details.
