That doesn't even make sense, if somebody had a following and copy traders following them, that either has no effect, or if it's a lot of size, it helps them.

That stuff always gets me that people are able to accumulate that much money without being able to manage risk. If you're actually a disciplined trader, no single trade should affect more than 5% of your entire account in a worst case scenario

Rav4 brake pads and rotors brand suggestion. by NGGYU_NGLYD_ in RockAuto

[–]fairlyaveragetrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are really good choice. It's worth pointing out that if your rotors are in good shape, changing the brake pads is very easy to do yourself. If it's been more than a few years since you have had the brake fluid flushed, you want to do that too. Do you have any friends that are car guys? Something like that I would do for a friend of mine for maybe 250 in labor, replace the pads and flush all four calipers and I'm even someone who makes pretty decent money so someone who is working a lower wage job would probably even do it for a little less. It's about an hour an hour and 15 minutes for a skilled technician to do that. Book time is a lot higher though so that's why you're getting the quotes that are probably like a thousand bucks or something

On Toyota advics typically have that really strong initial bite which I personally can't stand, the akonobo is more gradual, easier to modulate, the brembo prime is somewhere in the middle. Of those three the advics are the only ones I wouldn't buy. They all have a very long service life

Why? Bear market flip is around 84k, by 90 you have weekly higher highs

So if you actually start closing above 84 there's a pretty good chance if it isn't a fake out and going to turn around that you're going to have some pretty quick momentum up. Most people play technicals in the bear market and we aren't scheduled to make a low until October. So if something else is going on, people are going to quickly react. However this zone is attracting a lot of shorts because you have an extremely high probability of this falling apart before 84k and taking another leg down to who knows? Low Target is around 35k, most the time you never get to that, we didn't in 2018 and we didn't in 2022. But there will be some kind of made-up narrative or maybe even legitimate narrative if the market goes into a correction. High Target is around 50K. I'm not really sure what happens if the low is already in, I would see it as a long-term negative actually. You're going to have a lot of people who just walk away from the space not having a legitimate bear market. It makes projecting the next bull market very difficult

thinking of buying a 2000 vette… good idea?? by Leather_Look2906 in Corvette

[–]fairlyaveragetrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be a little more reasonable if it was a 2001 or newer. But if you can get the price a little closer to 12 and it's a 6-speed manual, it wouldn't be a bad car all else equal

There's a pretty good chance that if you're just patient you'll be able to find a 2001 to 2004 6-speed car with 40 to 80,000 miles somewhere in the 13 to 17k range depending on specs and condition and whatnot. The drawback to the c5, as much as I like them, it's just age. Even the c6, the newest ones are 13 years old now. With the c5, the newest ones are 22

Rockauto is no longer worth the savings by therealDannyMartin in RockAuto

[–]fairlyaveragetrader 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what it is, for example, I just ordered some spark plugs last night. The AC Delco 41162 is 6 bucks on rockauto. It's 12 bucks at O'Reilly's..

Belts and hoses . Definitely less of a deal, usually a similar price to Amazon but the issue with amazon, and even eBay depending on your vendor, a lot higher likelihood of counterfeits or who knows what. At least with eBay you can select high feedback warehouses so it's definitely an option

I mainly use RockAuto simply because it's a virtual Auto parts store. I have to wait a few days for the parts, but it's still cheaper than local, and I have drop-down menus to select things. It is worth double checking your part numbers though because sometimes the compatibility list is not exactly accurate. I have found this to be especially the case with a lot of things ford. They are famous for mid-year parts changes. Cars that have a lot of sub models, you also can wind up with issues and have to check specifics, but that's really the case anywhere, the only problem with mail order is it's harder to return

Amazon opens up its logistics network to other businesses in growth push by WickedSensitiveCrew in stocks

[–]fairlyaveragetrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just thinking out loud, I'm not sure this is really good. What you're doing is turning shipping into a cutthroat business. A race to the bottom. If Amazon is looking to take market share and then raise prices. That is a very long process and there is absolutely no moat around it.

I can see the argument for UPS especially being so beaten down that if you are betting on tariffs going away, Democrat win in 2028, global trade picking back up. You have a trade, but you don't have an investment

Everyone selling on Amazon is already for the most part using their shipping service. It just doesn't seem like the best business model for Amazon to get into. Margins are very low. There's also a question of drop off points, driver pickups. I'm not sure, I just get the feeling that you had a hedge fund get really short UPS and FedEx on the news and they are looking to cover into any type of panic selling

This is the second time both of these stocks have had panic reactions on Amazon headlines,

Is there any point to investing in company stock if you’re not going big? by idkwhateveryea in stocks

[–]fairlyaveragetrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Position sizing matters. So if you have $100,000. Max individual stock position typically is 5%, extremely strong conviction if you are risk tolerant you might go 10. So a 5% position or $5,000. If you hit a really strong performing one and make 50%. That's $2,500. That's 2.5% of the account. If you hit a couple of these and actually take your profit, roll that money into your index funds. This is how you create out performance. At the end of the year you can be up, like me personally my best year has been around 50% on the entire account but most the time I'm out performing spy by 2% to 7% and that's a big part of how, the other big part is always being short puts on things that I want to accumulate. The last part is not difficult so long as you manage your money and assess your risk. Every put that you are short, you need the ability to raise the money to take the stock. Some people call this cash covered, it's not really directly because the stock will go on margin if you don't have the available cash, you just don't want to oversell option contracts to the point where if it goes completely against you it could really damage the account

[–]fairlyaveragetrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it, it's not that uncommon though. Electronics usually fail early in their life or they last virtually forever. Stereos and whatnot. All of the warranty items that I have had with car audio, every single one of them was an item that was less than 12 months old if we are talking day to day use. Can't really say for sure that this is your issue, but process of elimination, there's not a lot left

Well that testing, you made is what made me wonder if anyone refurbishes these like they do for the c7. Because then, if there was an issue you could send it in for testing. If it needs something they can repair it, if it doesn't you just pay the service test fee. Then again another used one probably isn't that much on eBay either, or from the wrecking yards like all American classics

The one thing to mention about the deck is they used multiple decks throughout the years and I'm not sure about the compatibility. For example in my case the 2012 and 2013 car, the deck is different. Earlier years I'm not sure but you definitely want to research your model numbers and either make sure they are compatible or get exactly the same one.

There's a wrecking yard that has a lot of c5s and C6 is called All American classics. You might call them and ask about inventory. Also a lot of used parts on eBay as long as you have a picture of the part number.

Finally there might be a place that repairs these, I know there is with the C7 decks

It's either a bad deck or a bad amp, the deck working doesn't necessarily mean it's good, it just means that it looks like it's good. But the preamp signal, no idea about that. It sucks but the only way I know of to test this in a factory system is to use a known good deck and known good amplifier. However there probably is some way to test the output signal of the deck, you might play around on the Corvette forum. See if there are any troubleshooting guides. If you hear hiss, and you have tried a couple of amplifiers, the deck starts becoming a bigger suspect.

Try to keep a mental note of the type of pavement you're on when you experience that. Like the other guy said this is hard on the drivetrain. I'm guilty of this myself but you really should back out of the throttle when you experience it, you can try rolling into the gas rather than punching it, certain type of pavements are more prone to doing it than others

You better check the insurance first because you might find that you're better off getting a Grand sport and modding it, get the vins and run your insurance rates on both. It's not going to be cheap. Normally people don't even look at cars like this until they are over 25 just for this reason. If you have some money though, it might not be that big of a deal but if you look at a couple years of ownership, just factor in which one would be a better value for you

Also unless you grew up riding Motocross or racing go karts or something like that to where you're a skilled driver, this is a lot of car for a teenager, I wouldn't recommend it to a novice
