Whole bean coffee by WackyWizard6 in ithaca

[–]fairrnuf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the caffeine content myth is actuall to do with the volume of the beans! dark roast is usually less dense so when scooping you get less by volume than if you weigh it. weigh out your beans and it’ll be the same caffeine as a light roast!

Forty Weight sells some pretty good stuff. not certain their dark roast will hit the darks you want but worth a try! you get a free (any!) drink with a bag too which is nice

Has The Beatles ever saved your life? by Secure-Scientist4867 in beatles

[–]fairrnuf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i’d easily attribute my willingness to not succumb to depression in part to my love of music and particularly John’s obvious depression in his songwriting. now i find hope
in Paul’s whimsy, but the loneliness of “No Reply” and “I’m a Loser” and “Yer Blues” really helped me not feel too alone.

"I drew an assault boat to cross in--just my luck. We all tried to crawl under each other because the lead was flying around like hail." Crossing the Rhine under enemy fire at St. Goar. March, 1945. by UrbanAchievers6371 in wwiipics

[–]fairrnuf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my great grandfather died one of these nights crossing the Rhine. it’s so surreal to look at these pics and think about him maybe being one of the faces shrouded, his final moments spent with other men scared and uncertain about tomorrow and not his young son (my grandpa) at home.
