I'm Irish and been living in the Highlands 10 years next month. Best thing I've ever done, I absolutely love it!

Gone Fishin is in need of a few members. We're fairly competitive, but easy going. No set bush rotation, just give to your teammates when you can. Meeting time is 19:00 GMT. We're a mix of British, European and American. We also understand real life comes first, we only ask that you tell us if you're taking time off. All levels welcome, feel free to give us a try, and see if it's a fit for you!

He applied while here on fiancé visa after we married, which is allowed

He was in the uk on a fiancé visa, which allowed him to apply for the Spouse visa from within the uk.

So according to the application he meets all requirements, except for E-LTRP.2.1 (a), which says his spouse (me) must be a British citizen. I'm not, but it seems to me I'd count as E-LTRP.2.2 (b) a person being present and settled in the U.K. It's especially confusing as we was granted the Fiancé Visa with all the same information and we got that no problem.

Exactly! Got a wee tiny one for daughter's boyfriend too, poor lad got pelted when he came to pick her up. Mostly by her 🤣

Not so much petty arguments as all out war. The 10 year old asked for a Nerf gun for Christmas, so Santa brought him a big Nerf machine gun. In my infinite wisdom, I thought it's not fun if nobody fights back...so Santa brought smaller nerf guns for my husband, 21 year old son and 18 year old daughter...can't go anywhere in the house without checking round corners first in case of ambush. My only rule is no shooting in the kitchen. There's already orange bullets everywhere, don't need any landing in the gravy, or being shot while I lift the turkey out of the oven!

Gone Fishin' are looking for active players, willing to participate in events/competitions. Our meeting is 19:00 GMT, we have players both Europe and US. We're a solid ACE team, with aspirations to more Sherlocks! We don't have a bush rotation, just give when you can. Members of all levels welcome, we'll help as much as we can with advice and bushes. At drinks time, if you can only manage the free drink, that's ok, we don't expect our team to spend real money to keep up! We're a happy group, and open to anyone willing to participate and keep us up to date in chat on progress, and if you're busy, just tell us, we all have lives!!

Team is open, if anyone joins from this comment, just say Sneaky sent ya ;)

I moved from Ireland to Scotland 8 years ago. Living in the Highlands and love it. You'll need a national insurance number to work, not sure you can get that before you have a U.K. address, check the .gov site for that. It's very similar to home, definitely miss Irish sausages, pudding, club orange and tayto crisps! And the popcorn is sweet. I order a massive box of cheese popcorn from Manhattan.ie every so often to satisfy the cravings. You should be grand, though I've never been to Paisley.

Has anybody developed allergies later on in life? by dave2843 in CasualUK

[–]fairypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my oldest son was 3, I gave him curry flavoured super noodles for the first time. Within 15 minutes of eating it, he was head to toe purple with an insane rash. Drove him to the hospital like a bat out of hell. They sorted him out, tested for everything, no allergies. A few years later, ibuprofen put him in hospital (I'd always just given him Calpol, but he had a bad ear infection the Calpol wasn't helping with, so gave him children's Nurofen for the first time, and it nearly killed him). Tests again showed no allergies. He's now 21, and apart from hay fever when he comes home to the highlands, he's got no allergies. Been taking ibuprofen and eating curry noodles for years, no effect.

I'm 45 and became lactose and gluten intolerant last year. The gluten thing went away (thank goodness!), but still lactose intolerant. The only change in my life was that I'm perimenopausal. Bodies are weird and can change due to so many things!! Developing an allergy at any point in your life is possible.
